Anyone used Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays

Hi,

We%26#39;re planning on visiting Maui for a few days and then Kauai in the month of January for our 30th anniversary. We were thinking of simplifying things and using plesant hawaiian holidays to reserve everything. I was wondering if any of you had any experience with them that you could share. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Aloha!

Anyone used Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays

We have used them three different times, two times for the condo, flight %26amp; car rental %26amp; one time for just the flight %26amp; car rental. We have never had a problem with them %26amp; what we asked for we got. Would definately use them again.

We have also used them and they do a great job.

The orientation they put on (if you chose to go) is about 1/2 what to do, see and some history and 1/2 infomercial for the activities they sell. If you are nearby where they are held and havae never been to the islands you might want to spend the hour. Most of the activies they offer you might be able to get cheaper prices on your own but they do offer one stop shopping for them and they back everything they offer 100%, any issues and they will handle them. Plus you get a tote bag..lol

Probably the only downside is if you are using them and island hopping is they only use one interisland airline (I think Hawaiian but I really don%26#39;t remember) and you might have to go through Honolulu to get to your next stop. Other airlines (like Island Air) offer direct flights, cost you a bit more but still something to consider.

Unlike booking everything yourself if you have problem Pleasant is there 7 X 24 to help out.

Georgia, I have used Pleasant Holidays for my two previous trips to Hawaii and have booked with them again for December in Maui. I booked only my hotel and flights with them as I get an employee discount for my car rental (I work for one of the car rental companies). I found there prices to be excellent, there selection of hotels really nice and their customer service to be really good. They even throw in a lei greeting at the airport when you first arrive on the islands at no charge. :) You are not required to attend their orientation if you don%26#39;t want to or already have other things booked. For interisland flights they use both Aloha and Hawaiian.

They are good when everything goes right, and they are GREAT when things go wrong. Last time, my flight over to the islands got delayed overnight in Denver due to equipment/weather problems. I called them and they were extremely helpful about working with the airlines and hotel to make the best of an unfortunate situation. Also, I was scheduled to fly on Delta last spring. I made my reservation before the threatened pilots strike. When it became apparent that there was a possibility of the strike, Pleasant was able to switch my flight reservations to another airline at my request. The only charge was the airline mandated fee for a schedule change.

Aloha!

Pleasant is fine, BUT I have seen their prices rise a LOT since they were bought out by AAA. Frankly, there are many other wholesalers out there that do just as good as Pleasant and are LESS money. Look around before you buy!

I prefer to book my own air, car and condo. I like to book direct so I can see the exact condo I%26#39;ll be using and not have a ';surprise'; of not liking what I%26#39;m assigned by a middleman. Thank heavens for the advent of web listings like vrbo.com so that you don%26#39;t *have* to use an agent.

BUT...if you are talking about January 2007 you may have little choice other than using a travel agency. Our Maui Kamaole condo and many others all over Maui are booked six months to a year in advance for the winter months. Getting rental car can be difficult, too. This may be the one time I would go with an agency.

You will also pay much more to visit in the winter -- not that Hawaii is any more beautiful then, but visitors are escaping mainland cold. Rates at our place are least from mid-April to mid-December; higher for January and March; highest for Christmas and February.

Thanks everyone for your quick and very helpful input. I had been looking on vrbo etc. and was just kind of getting a headache over all the different condos. Everytime I found one I liked it was already booked. Anyway I think that I%26#39;am going to go with Pleasant . The rates don%26#39;t look that bad and working up the itenerary with them seems pretty easy. Since none of you had any particular problems with them. I think that%26#39;s the way we%26#39;ll go. We%26#39;re going to go to the Hyatt in kauai and then the Mahana in Maui. From what I%26#39;ve read if you don%26#39;t like the first room at the Mahana that they give you that they ususally try to find one you do like if they possibly can. Since we%26#39;re not that picky I%26#39;am sure we%26#39;ll be fine. We%26#39;re also going to go ahead and use them for the airline and car rental too. Just the ease of it is worth a little extra money we might save searching and searching around. Thanks soooo much!

Have a great %26amp; relaxing trip. You will fall in love with Hawaii.

TravelingOkie - thanks for the update on them using both Hawaiian and Aloha, we havn%26#39;t used Pleasant for a few years. Still might be a good idea to check other airlines if they try to book you from say Maui to Honolulu then on to wherever, you might be able to get a direct flight via Island Air.

Thanks again everyone. Appreciate all your advice and tips. Can%26#39;t wait to get there. Mahola!
