Family vacation next July

My husband and I will be taking our 2 adult children and their 2 children, ages 8 and 13 to Hawaii next July. We think we will be staying in Maui most of the time, 13 days, but are willing to go to one other Island. I know Maui very well but don%26#39;t know the family condo%26#39;s very well. I have been checking the Kahana Village, the Napili Point, Papakea, the Napili Kai and the Mahana.

We want something on the water or at least close to the water and do not want an overcrowded place with tons of families. We also want a place where the kids can swim and be in the water and we don%26#39;t have to get in the car to go to a beach.

I would appreciate your suggestions for a clean, preferably air conditioned condo that will sleep 6 comfortably.

Aloha!

I say split up....your ADULT children and their 2 kids can get a 1 bedroom and you can get a STUDIO at the ResortQuest Maui Kaanapali Villas...you can request that the units be right next to each other. There is a very nice beach there, it is quiet, pretty grounds, decent restaurant on-site, too!

All the condos on your list are near the water. Of the places you list, the nicest is Mahana. It%26#39;s the only one where every unit is beachfront, right at the ocean, with great views. The beach there is fine, but the ocean there has some sharp coral, so you will want to walk 3 minutes north along the beach to an area without that problem (follow the signs and see where the people are going in the water).

Details about many Maui condos, including photos and suggestions, as well as restaurant advice (including family restaurants good for the kids) are at

Have you ever stayed in South Maui? Some find it better suited to young families. S. Kihei and Wailea offer many nice, and sometimes newer, condos, both *on* the beach and across from the three Kamaole Beach Parks.

karenkay,

I agree with jonmaui about the Mahana. It fits your description of what your looking for and has A/C.

Napili Kai is right on Napili Bay and has a great beach. Stayed there last time.

Maui Kaanapali Villas has a great location and the beach in front of it is quite nice as well. Still within walking distance of the main stretch of Kaanapali but not as pricy as the Whaler or Kaanapali Alii.

The area you have chosen is a GREAT choice.

Napili Kai is a great family place in a beautiful location. The snorkeling is good and NK offers free use of equipment. They also offer free refreshments at 10:00AM (fresh fruits, juices, teas, etc)--

I liked that they did not nickel and dime you. Some kids were skim boarding on the beach, which was great for that. The places is nice and quiet in the evening when you are ready to wind down for the night with tiki torches all over. I am sure any of the places you mentioned will be great! Have fun planning!

Thanks so much for the infomation everyone. I am in the process of checking out the places you have all recommended. I will let you know what we choose.

I was looking into the Napili Kai (beach resort?) for my family and it came up at over $300 a nite for a one bedroom. yikes

We paid 225.00 a night and even got a deal that gave us our 5th nite free. However, that was during the first week in June which was considered ';low season';. I think it is more difficult finding those deals during late June and July. Sometimes calling and speaking to someone personally might get you a better deal???

Good luck!
