Bringing back wines from Hawaii

I live in a state that Hawaii is not allowed to ship alcohol to. I normally bring back any wines purchased while there as a carry on. In light of the airline restrictions-I am a bit hesitant to have the wine go thru as checked baggage.

Has anyone done this recently?

I just flew back here from south america with a large bottle of coffee liquor, and had to go through customs with it. I didn%26#39;t have any problems, as long as you pack it in your checked luggage, you should be fine. There might be restrictions if it is opened, but I am not aware of any specific laws that prohibit sealed liquor bottles to enter certain states in checked luggage.

sorry I now that I think about it there are specific states that have enforce different import laws, but I never lived in New York so I didn%26#39;t know that, my bad.....

Wow- I guess I have learned something new today! Since Hawaii in part of the US, I had no idea wine could not be shipped from there to another state. Any other states that NY prohibits wine shipments from? Just curious

Here%26#39;s a link to where wine and spirits can be shipped:

There are boxes you can purchase so that the bottles can be safely checked.

It%26#39;s not just shipments from Hawaii. There are states, including mine, which do not allow shipments of wine from anywhere.

I guess I will have to try and pack the wine as carefully as possible for transport as checked luggage....Sigh, I really am going to be nervous about it...especially if they want to open it to inspect it, I will be wondering if they will close it back properly.
