Is it possible to continue the road to Hana past Hana, and complete the circle by returning to Wailea? I’ve looked on mapquest and on google maps, and don’t seem to see any roads that connect. Some look close, but there seems to be a small gap. Is this terrain passable? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.
Ben
Road to Hana? Can you continue on to Wailea?
No, you have to follow the road around through the up country area and back through Kihei.
Road to Hana? Can you continue on to Wailea?
According to Maui revealed there are roads shown on some maps but there really aren%26#39;t any.... maybe a local can help with this.. would be nice to drive direct back to the hotels in wailea and not make that extra loop..
You must go back through Kahului. There is no public road from upcountry to Wailea.
C%26#39;mon. I know the locals have to have some unmarked road that brings you the 5 miles or so that separate the end of the road and Wailea. Hasn%26#39;t anyone heard anything, or ventured off the beaten path. That is one of the main reasons that I%26#39;m renting a Grand Cherokee with 4WD.

My understanding is that there is a road, but it is private, on private property.
we took the road all the way around and it takes you back through upcountry and you end up coming out on the road to Kihei/Airport depending which direction you want to head. You can see the ocean in the distance but you can%26#39;t get anywhere near it. It%26#39;s also very bumpy. We were on a Valley Isle excursion bus and we rocked and rolled. You are way above the ocean road. Look on any map of Maui and you can follow the road from Hana and see where it leads.
Google earth has a very good satellite image of the South Maui area; you can take a look from the satellite view to see if there are any roads.
You need Google earth software to view the images.
I used Google earth software when I book the condo to it’s location in relation to the ocean, views etc... It is a very useful tool to see the actual image of the place where you are staying and the surroundings. Parking lots, how far you have to walk to the beach, what you have to go through to get to the beach etc……
The google earth software is free you can download it here:

like drvalgemae says regarding Private Property
or are you for trespassing?
Inspite of how Hawai`i REALLY got to be a state.
Fact is IT IS And in the US trespassing is illegal.
Trust me, if there were a safe and legal way to do this, I%26#39;d have done it. The private road is gated and locked. You%26#39;ll need to bring boltcutters to cut the lock. Otherwise, it%26#39;s a no go.
My point here is that if you don%26#39;t believe what you see in the maps and if you actually look at the satellite images, you will see for yourself that there is no driveable road intended for the public which cut through to Wailea.
I strongly recommend everyone to stick to the main highway.
I can%26#39;t speak for everyone, but I fly and drive by the rule especially with my love ones are the passengers and respect the land and people where I visit.
