Couple under 30 w/ 18 mos old

Where abouts would be the best city to stay in for a couple under 30 with an 18 month old? I would like to be on the beach or very close to it...and somewhere where having a baby is definately not frowned upon and their will be other kids for her to admire. I just find I am so overwhelmed with the choices....W. Kihei, S. Kihei, lahaina, Napili, Kaanapali, Wailea etc....too many decisions!

We like to be out and about. The room needs to be nice, but we are looking to spend somewhere between $100-$150/night as we are in Oahu for a week before Maui for a week.

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

We%26#39;ve stayed at Papakea (condo near Kaanapali) several times, including when our children were that age. We would get a ground floor unit, because it was easy to just walk out from the patio. Our kids could wander and play in the grass in front of the unit, while we sat and watched. The beach next door is great for playing in the sand. Plus, there%26#39;s a nice paved walkway connecting the resorts on down the beach for pushing a stroller. A short drive away are Kaanapali and Lahaina, 2 other good places to go with a stroller. Across the street is a full super market. With kids, we prefer a condo. You can set up like at home and relax. If you want to go, Papakea is in a good location. you can get nightly rates in your range there and other condos at VRBO.

Aloha Amy,

Thought you were settled on the Maui Kama%26#39;ole. What happened there ? Did you get the impression that there would be a problem with your little one there or was it just to dern much money ?

Just curious :-}

IF Maui Kamaole was too expensive, or nothing was available, I%26#39;d try Hale Kamaole (next door to MK) or Kamaole Sands. All are steps from Kamaole III Beach Park, with its gentle beaches, good swimming and snorkeling, and (important with kids) nice grassy areas with picnic tables and benches, restrooms, showers, lifeguards.

Visitors and locals often have picnic lunches and dinners in the park. There are several fast-food places nearby on Kihei Road. It%26#39;s the best view in town for the least money and kids can roam around while mom and pop relax. There%26#39;s parking ,too, if you don%26#39;t want to push a stroller.

Guests at our MK condo often write about enjoying meals on the lanai while little ones toddle around on the grass. I agree with prior posts that a condo would be my choice when traveling with children. I%26#39;d prefer one without carpeting if possible (cleaner), and somewhere away from the party-hearty group. (You can%26#39;t guarantee who will be staying where, but some areas attract more ';active'; guests.)

Amy what did u decide?

I%26#39;m looking into those same areas for my family.

amy and calif momma- check out www.mauibeachvacation.com? 3 studios and 1, 1bdrm, all look beautifully remodeled. The one at Napili Shores has a gorgeous kitchen and washer and dryer and close to Gazebo restaurant, looks perfect for a small family. The one at Paki Maui looks to have a gorgeous lanai and wow, look at the view! I emailed the owner on this one, w/d not in the room but on the same floor. Big plasma tv%26#39;s but you%26#39;ll be in Maui, who needs tv when you are oceanfront? Hope you find what you%26#39;re looking for!

my wife and I are 31 and 28 and we have a 5 months old. were going to maui oct 4-12 and we are staying at the below place. great reviews and very cheap. hope this helps.
