Hi everyone!
I have the option of either staying at the Mauna Lani on the Big Island or the Grand Wailea on Maui, at no cost. We went to the Four Seasons Maui for our honeymoon %26amp; we%26#39;re kind of familiar with the Grand Wailea. If anyone has had experiences with both resorts, which one would you select? I%26#39;ve heard that the Mauna Lani is much more laid back. Any opinions?
Mauna Lani Vs. Grand Wailea
I%26#39;d pick the Mauna Lani. I like that sort of resort hotel best. It was a Rockefeller resort. Others were Jackson Hole, WY and St. John in the Virgin Islands.
The GW is loved by families with kids. Posts here also talk about racing to the pool at 6 a.m. to ';reserve'; a chaise! Very different clientele, I%26#39;d say.
Also, you%26#39;ve *been* to Maui! How about trying Big Island? Just be warned, it isn%26#39;t ';tropical'; in the same way that Maui is. You can find waterfalls, etc. on its wet side, but the dry side has the best hotels, and that is primarily a moonscape of lava with a resort oasis here and there. There%26#39;s the volcano, snow-capped Mauna Kea, a grassy ranch country -- many micro-climates on the youngest Hawaiian island.
