4/5 star hotel in honolulu with decent sized pool

I am having trouble finding a luxury hotel to stay at in Oahu with my family of 5 in April.

I am looking for a hotel on the main beach strip with a heated relatively large pool which is suitable for kids.

I refuse to wait for a pool lounge so i would like a hotel that has a many pool lounges. So far i have looked at Royal Hawaiin, sheraton Moana, Halekalani and Hilton Hawiian Village. All hotels have negative reviews on Trip advisor.

Can anyone recommend which hotel is the best out of the Bunch or perhaps suggest another hotel?

Please help.

A lot of Hotels in Waikiki dont have pools, except for the bigger ones that you have listed. I dont think these would be heated (I could be wrong on that one).

The only other one I can think of that isnt in your list would be the Hyatt Regency. It is not directly on the beachfront, rather across the street with unobstructed views from Oceanfront rooms. It has 2 towers about 40 floors each and a large pool deck overlooking Waikiki Beach.

People%26#39;s TA reviews on Hotels will differ, so for eg. while someone may not have liked the Halekulani, you may love it. Halekulani is the only 5 star hotel in Waikiki.

For big resort style, I would have thought the HHV or Sheraton would have been OK, but it will come down to your personal choice.

Have a great trip :-)

If you are willing to venture from the main beach strip you might find the Kahala Resort or Marriott Ko%26#39;Olina Beach Club everything you are looking for. Kahala is about 5-6 miles from Waikiki Beach and Ko%26#39;Olina is about 18 miles east of the airport. Ko%26#39;Olina seems to be more family %26amp; kid friendly. Also you might want to be out of Waikiki since they have a lot of construction going on. Whichever you choose you%26#39;ll have a wonderful time since you be in Hawaii.

The Kahala has a very small pool and access to this pool has been somewhat limited this summer by reconstruction of part of the poolside deck. However the beach at the Kahala is pretty good and is as close to being a private, hotel guest only, beach as is possible in Hawaii.

If you are looking for a hotel that provides large pool areas and a lot of poolside loungers look at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai. They have a river style fresh water pool that meanders around the site. They also have a large sea water lagoon that is not heated but is kept quite warm by the constant sunlight. I was there over the holiday week at the start of July. The hotel was full but we were never in a position where we couldn%26#39;t find a couple of empty loungers somewhere around the pools.

Thankyou for your response.

How far by car is the Grand Hyatt to the main strip of Honolulu?

Grand Hyatt is on the island of Kauai, not on Oahu so fair distance from Honolulu...

Here is a map of most Waikiki hotels %26amp; condos. Some of the hotels have changed their names.

Halekulani %26amp; Hilton Hawaiian Village are the best of the four you mentioned. For kids, I would choose the Hilton.

Is there a reason you want to stay on Oahu so much? It%26#39;s a great island and I love it, but it sounds like you%26#39;re looking for more of a resort experience, and that%26#39;s more readily found on the other islands. Have you looked into some of the hotels on Maui?

We think that the HHV has the best pool(s) on Oahu. Unfortunately resort style pools are rare on Oahu - check out the Ali%26#39;i Tower at the HHV. Enjoy!

we will also visit the big Island and maui as well.

But will go to Oahu first and spend 4 nights there before we visit the other islands.

I am just loking for the best option for a quick stopover/shop first in Oahu.
