Getting married in Hawaii

Hi,

We are planning to get married in Hawaii next summer (late June/early July). However, I am very cinfused as to which island/hotel etc to choose - there are just to many to decide!! Can anyone help?

I think either Kauai or Maui look best. We dont want anything to busy/crowded hotel wise, somewhere off the beaten track but luxurious and not too far from good places to go?

Can anyone recommend a good wedding company to use also? We are not very impressed by the packages offered by the travel agents, so are thinking of doing it independantly.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thankyou in advance.

';not too far from good places to go';

Other than the Big Island nothing on the other islands is very far, 2 or 3 hours tops for the hardest to get to things.

Deciding which island and which place to stay really depends on what you like to do....like hiking, just hanging at the pool or beach. Basicly all the islands are fantastic but if you post some of you ';like to do'; things people on here can halp you narrow it down.

By the way, congrats on the impending nuptuials.

Thankyou BrightonBill! I have just read another post, and it looks like Kauai might be the place for us...fewer crowds, slower pace etc. We really dont want to be surrounded by high rise hotels etc.

Can you recommend a luxurious resort there? Not sure exactly how we are going to work this....we are visiting las vegas and san francisco first too, but are having trouble finding a company who goes to Kauai as part of a multicentre tour. Nightmare!!

Kauai is pretty nice.

We have stayed in the Poipu area, it has the best weather year round on Kauai and is prety much centrally located.

We stayed at the Embassy resort. The rooms are huge, full kitchen and washer/dryer in each suit. Poipu beach propper is maybe a 3 or 4 minute walk away. Next door is the Hyatt and the Sheraton, either would be good choices.

Now that you have narrowed it down a bit hopefully others will chime in with suggestions.

Another thought, if Kauai is where you have decided to go, post your questions on that forum.

Check out the hooilo house website at www.hooliohouse.com. It%26#39;s in Maui with both ocean and mountain views in a secluded upscale neighborhood. Would be a wonderful spot for a wedding and a fantastic place to honeymoon. Could always take a day or two and stay in Hana in Maui as well. Perfect seclusion. Check out Hotel Hana-Maui.

Wow, thankyou for the suggestions! Ho%26#39;oilo house looks AMAZING. Will definately enquire. Thanks again.

hi, we were married on baby beach in lahaina, maui, We used maui destiny weddings (angela and brian) and picked them thro their website and brians photography. You can make it as inexpensive or expensive as you like and we had a fantastic day!!! We booked our flights thro e-bookers. If you tell them the destinations you want to visit/go to they co-ordinate your flights We stopped of at L.A( Via Heathrow)and they were really reasonable.

we then researched (thro tripadvisor) various hotel and chose on location and budget!!

everything was done on line and it could not have gone any better!
