I%26#39;ve been scouring this forum and have found it very helpful, so I thought I%26#39;d just go ahead and post...My fiance and I are planning to get married in Kauai in July, but neither of us has been there! (We%26#39;ve been other parts of Hawaii and suspect Kauai will be our favorite.) Unfortunately, we won%26#39;t have a chance to go there until December, and we think we%26#39;ve probably got to book something before then, so we%26#39;re taking a leap of faith based on what we can glean from the internet, guidebooks, etc.
We%26#39;re planning to have about 50 guest,s and have been considering the Hyatt because it%26#39;s been recommended and it would be easy to do a package, but we%26#39;re not really ';resort'; type of people, and are worried that it might be a bit too much that way, as beautiful as it looks...We would love to get married in a beautiful natural setting with some privacy, and then just have a great party with dancing, drinks, etc. We%26#39;d like it to be nice, but we don%26#39;t need it to be a fancy resort. We%26#39;re kind of outdoor hiking enthusiast types. Any suggestions from people more in the know about Kauai? Maybe even a private house on the beach or a restaurant near the water? Or does anyone have any reviews/ descriptions of the Hyatt that might help us make our decision? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Na Aina Kai gardens does weddings down on their private beach. I didn%26#39;t attend but picked up my cousin from such a party. Looked like a beautiful spot. They might be able to turn you on to a wedding planner.
I can%26#39;t believe it would be more painful on price than the Hyatt. Nothing is cheap there. North shore is nicer in summer IMO anyway.
They had a tent, dance floor, DJ, food ... Looked like they were having a blast.
We attended a wedding at the Hyatt. It was a huge affair, 500+ people. It was nice, the food was great, but with that many people it was Hotel ballroom. Rumored to have cost on the order of $100-150 per even with that many people. Their gardens are lovely. They should be able to give you a reasonably private area but not beachside.
You could easily rent a house on Hanalei bay and set up a tent on the lawn. If i knew a wedding planner I%26#39;d recommend.

My husband and I were married on Kauai in February and although it was just the two of us on Ke%26#39;e Beach at sunset (GORGEOUS) our wedding planner/photographer was amazing, and very knowledgeable about sites all over the island. Her name is Kaye Vea and her business is called Maile Weddings. She%26#39;s in Kapaa. She was so helpful and so accomodating and even though our original wedding day had to be changed due to heavy rain she was wonderful and everything went so beautifully. I%26#39;d recommend her to anyone, and I know she arranges weddings of all sizes. Congratulations--there isn%26#39;t a more beautiful place in the whole world to get married!
