Has anyone stayed at the Lotus Garden bed and breakfast before?
Lotus Garden Cottages Bed and BreakfastNo, but we are staying there in October, so I would also like to know if anyone else has stayed there before????
Lotus Garden Cottages Bed and BreakfastYes, we stayed there in July and had a wonderful time. We were there for 2 nights with our 5 year old. Very clean, in the rainforest (bring a jacket) and great host/hostesses! Volcanoe Village is REALLY small so not much to do other than the National Park, which is a must!
Which room did you stay in? By any chance, do they have a washing machine and dryer that you could use? We are staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Oahu for 4 nights, then at the Lotus Garden Cottages for 1 night, then the Hapuna Beach Prince for 3 nights. I%26#39;m trying to figure out where I could do a quick load of laundry! Thanks!
I am not sure about laundry there. You can always email the hosts, Mr and Mrs Kim, via their website. They are very nice. I do remember a laundry mat in Volcanoe Village. Bring a flashlight and closed toed shoes for any volcanoe hiking! We stayed in the room that has the daybed at the foot of the bed and high, vaulted ceilings. I don%26#39;t remember the name of the room though.
we are here on 7/1/06 stay one night, place clean but bedding are smell funny, since they never change from last customer. breakfast is bad and no hot dish when you wake up, only 2 juice and sweet bread, not the place to stay for sure.
I am sad to read the bad review. I have stayed there many many times under the previous ownership when it was called Kalani Garden Cottages and I just loved the place. As to the hot breakfast, make sure you clear that issue in advance. The County of Hawaii has been cracking down on B%26amp;Bs. Hot food can be served only if it is prepared in a commercial kitchen. Unfortunately, most of the B%26amp;Bs were not built on commercially zoned land, therefore, they can%26#39;t have a commercial kitchen. Many B%26amp;B%26#39;s were ';converted'; to ';Vacation Rental'; and don%26#39;t serve hot food anymore.
As the owner, I feel sorry if one of our deer guest did not have a comfortable stay. However, I cannot help but express a regret reading the comment by %26#39;tw816%26#39;, who felt funny about a brand new bedding made by the Ralph Lauren purchased in the Macy%26#39;s department store in Hilo, which was just opened and placed in the bed for the first time on that morning.
We still have it waiting to be washed, with all the biological evidences, and are willing to go through DNA test to identify and prove our honesty and effort, and not let such unfair and immature complaint by one guest mis-represent our services when hundreds of other guests enjoyed and left great comments. We are indeed placed as one of the nicest places in the area by the trip adivisor rating system.
Neither can we cater to someone who does not have clear idea of what one really wants when shopping, i.e. asking for air-conditioner upon arrival in Volcano Village, 4000 feet above see level, and complain of chill the next morning, and we offered our jacket.
We always warm up our cinammon toast or waffle or bagel just before we serve them, perhaps if one lingers around and does not eat right away, food will get cooled after ten minutes.
Fortunately, there is this fair comment by the local expert about the regulations, and we really appreciate it.
i read the review from the owner, we only have two danish and 2 cups of juice and some fruit for our breakfast during our stay. we don%26#39;t have cinammon toast or any waffle or even the bagel. i don%26#39;t know why the owner say that. and also danish was cold, not even hot. if you did heat up, maybe you should put something cover up and tell us. we did not get that hot danish during our stay. even we have hike nvp for last night, everyone need some protein in the next day morning, i really don%26#39;t think for $159 that is call include the breakfast package. we would definitely try somewhere else next time.
lotusgardens -- You should wash all linens before using them. New linens contain chemicals and perhaps that is what your guest smelled. Also, I think your comments about DNA and %26#39;biologicals%26#39; was totally inappropriate. That%26#39;s not something that should be discussed on a forum like this, especially since you couldn%26#39;t possibly be serious about it. Eeewww.
To the customer that was unhappy -- why didn%26#39;t you go to the management while you were there and let them know you were unhappy? They might have been able to resolve your problems and then you would have enjoyed your stay. It%26#39;s unfair to complain now since you have no idea if they would have corrected the problem or not had you said something to them during your stay.
Second that on new linens:
We wash all new bedding at least TWICE and often three times, with extra rinse, until that awful new smell is gone. It is pretty bad, in fact it makes me feel ill, especially to breathe it all night. I would have recognized the ';new'; smell. I guess not everyone would.
Side note:
I used to work with a custom bedding company and we had to iron new linens to make duvet covers, etc.... the smell was awful.
I did call the manufacturer to find out what horrible chemicals I was inhaling and they claimed it was vinegar that all companies use as sizing (to make the linens crisp). That was 20 years ago, still the same smell though.
