I am so disappointed in reading this morning (9/15), that Polihale State Park will be closed until further notice beginning immediately. The Navy will begin clearing an ';unexploded ordinance'; from an area 800 yards from the shore. Pretty scarey stuff! Wonder how many other lost items are buried around the island. I just read a TA report from one of us that returned from Kauai and suggested taking a drive to the park and enjoying the sunset. Had thoughts of a nice bottle of wine and a blanket. Oh, well, there%26#39;s always another beautiful spot to choose on the north shore. For any further info, cheack out the KAUAI NEWS on line.

Thanks so much for the info. I won%26#39;t be in Kauai until the 30th. Now, I can get to experience the sunset with family . I have seen a number of sunsets on Kauai, but I really wanted to go to Polihale. Thanks again!
I think it is interesting that some of us west coasters want to go to the islands to see a sunRise cuz we don%26#39;t see the sun come up over the water, but we do see the sun set...hmmmm????
