Hi all! Only 10 days to go!! I have heard there are a few swap meets or Farmer markets ( not sure if that is what they are called in Maui) to go to. Does anyone have any information on them. Also, I was wondering what supermarkets are close to Kihei. I am staying at the Kihei Akahi. Thanks. :)
swapmeets
There is a swap meet/farmer%26#39;s market near the airport on saturday mornings. I think it cost $1/person to get in. Lots of vendors selling clothes, crafts, fruits. Must be held rain or shine as it drizzled quite a bit when we were there. It is located near the post office (we had to turn around there to get in, as it%26#39;s one way in and out of the swap meet).
I think most of the grocery stores are near the airport or in Waikoloa, but there%26#39;s got to be something in Kihei as well. Maybe a Long%26#39;s drugstore that would suffice for most items?
Hope that helps.
swapmeets
saturdays next to the post office in kahalui swap meet.
lots of supermarkets in kihei.
a major big safeway, a foodland and a star market.
Lisa,
My wife and I will be landing 3 days ahead of you and also staying at the Akahi! Can%26#39;t wait!! The 3 main grocery stores in Kihei ( I believe already mentioned) are Foodland, Star Market, and the relatively new Safeway. Make sure you ask for a discount card at Foodland (it%26#39;s free).

We always stop at Costco rtight after we leave the airport. We stock up on fruit, meat, chicken, eggs, milk and snacks and gifts to take home.
We then shop for small quanities at the Safeway in Kihei.
You must try the Plate at Da Kitchen - the kobe beef is terrific!
6 days to go and my vacation officially starts tomorrow so I will be packing and getting ready....... everyone who I have told I am going to Maui and has been there gets this dream like look on their face and says it is beautiful. I can not wait!!
