Hello...here%26#39;s my question - We are taking our 7 grown up kids (all finally graduated) to Kauai in 11 days. We are absolutely excited to be going back, and excited to show them the beauty of the island. The one and only thing missing for us, is that we are renting this beautiful huge house in Princeville that doesn%26#39;t have a pool... and the kids would love to do some pool swimming along with the other water activities on the island. Does anyone know if we can go to one of the hotels that have pools and hang out their, or can we pay to do this on a daily basis.. or is this a complete %26#39;no-no%26#39;? Or is there a community pool around that area (not as preferred however)? I would really appreciate your input. WE LOVE KAUAI and we are counting the minutes!!!
What pools to go to in Princeville Kauai-we're in a house
I prefer the beach, but i%26#39;ve gone down to the Princeville Hotel pool and never been hassled. I don%26#39;t know what their policy is?
I%26#39;ve also gone down to the Hanalei Bay Resort (Princeville) pools while staying in a house in Princeville without any problems. Again, I don%26#39;t know their policy on visitors?

We have a timeshare at Pahio at Bali Hai. They have a great pool and I%26#39;m sure people have used it that are not staying at a Pahio property. There isn%26#39;t anyone monitoring guests, but you will have to bring your own beach towels. Have a great trip in paradise!
I agree with Beyondnback about swimming at Princeville and Hanalei Bay Resort. Princeville doesn%26#39;t give you any towels, obviously since you aren%26#39;t a guest), but I have never been bothered by the staff. In fact, my husband and I make it a point to order an ice tean or soada and the swim up bar. The staff will definitely leave you be if you are sitting for a few minutes while thw children swim.
Also, as an owner at Hanalei Bay, I recommend you swim in the lower pool. It is a regular pool (not like the upper pool with it%26#39;s waterfalls etc.) , and it%26#39;s located near the Princeville beach and pool. It never has been crowded when we have used it. Most adult are out and about during the day, so the pools are empty. They are never empty at Princeville. Go and have fun!!!
Thank you to all of you for your help... we might check out all the places you have suggested! 3 Days left!!! Yippy...I%26#39;m already dreading coming back to go back to work again!
I would suggest rather than just helping yourself to something you are not entitled to at a resort you call then and see if they offer day passes. Most do and that way you are not cheating. They pay a fortune to put them in and maintain them and they are after all, for the paying guests. You would also avaoid the embarrasment of being caught unless that doesn%26#39;t bother you.
Sorry if that sounds harsh but I guess I am just an honest person.
fyi - we were just in Kauai in August and called the Princeville Resort because I had heard they offer a day pass for the pool. We were told they don%26#39;t do that any more. Was totally bummed, but it ended up pouring the day we were planning to go, so felt better. :)
Here%26#39;s a link to the public pools in Kauai:

i think the guy that has a problem with someone swimming in a hotel pool that is already there and being taken care of anyways by a huge corporation that is making money hand over fist from tourists is indeed honest but needs to chill out.
Even a haole should be able to honestly claim hoa‘aina rights to the Princeville Resort swimming pool IMHO....Just remember to tip the bartender :)
I don%26#39;t think hotel management would buy any claims of ';rights'; to a non-paying guest, whether haole, local or kama%26#39;aina. You have to remember it%26#39;s not just an issue of somebody using the pool that%26#39;s already being maintained, but it%26#39;s a liability issue if somebody were to get hurt.
Many hotels monitor their pools pretty closely, and if they see you without a wristband or hotel towel, you%26#39;re likely to get the boot. Could be a mighty embarrassing situation.
