1st timer ?'s

We%26#39;re going to be in Maui in November with our 2 kids (10 %26amp; 14). We%26#39;re staying by Whaler%26#39;s Village in West Maui. How long is the ride and what time would we have to leave by to get there in time for sunrise. I%26#39;m not sure about bringing the kids at that hour. Has anyone done it with kids that age and was it worth it FOR THEM??

Thanks!

It is about 3 hours from West Maui.

No problem taking the kids, they will sleep on the way there. Sunrise on Haleakala will be an experience they won%26#39;t froget.

For sunrise on the day you go:

use Honolulu time.

Our youngest found out he got sick on curvy roads while asleep going up to Haleakala. But other than that both of our boys (11 %26amp; 18) enjoyed Haleakala. The oldest wanted to go see if he could borrow one of the telescopes across from the summit for a few hours. It takes 2.5 to 3 hrs. to get to Haleakala from Kaanapali and sunrise on Nov.15th. is suppose to be 6:43. We go the first morning we are on Maui because our body clock has not adjusted from mainland time yet so getting up at 3:00 is like getting up at 6:00 which is sleeping in for me. lol

Hope this helps. Have a great trip.
