Want to go snorkeling while in Maui. We will be there the first week of October. Our first choice for snorkeling is the Lana%26#39;i Wild Dolphin Snorkel Cruise, or the Molokini-Lanai Snorkel Cruise through the Pacific Whale Foundation. Are either of these cruises worth it? Is there any chance to see turtles and dolphins in October? If not can anyone recommend a good cruise? Also, is there any chance of doing a whale watching cruise in October?
Thanks

We have seen dolphins on the Blue Water raft trip down the Kanio coast and on a raft trip to Lanai. We have never seen them on a trip to Molokini but I have read where others have. For the most part the dolphins seem to be a luck thing. If their in the area you%26#39;ll see them especially the Spinners. When we went to Lanai our captain said he thought we ran into the entire Lanai pod of Spinner%26#39;s and I believe him from the excitement in his voice. It was awesome.
As for turtles, you can see those from several places on shore and many of the Molokini trips go to the Wailea area after Molokini to see turtles. We have snorkeled at Black Rock in Kaanapali and there is only one time I remember not seeing turtles. They seem to come in and feed before sunset.
I don%26#39;t believe the whales are in the islands by October but I could be wrong. The websites for Molokini trips usually have whale trips and/or dates the whales tend to arrive on them.
Our favorite Molokini boat is the Aqua Adventure. ( www.mauisnorkelsnuba.com ) Awesome crew and a very nice boat.
Hope you have a great trip!

Don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll see whales in October. I think there time is Jan Feb. As for the snorkel cruise we went with PWF but did the Molokini Kaino coast trip. Saw no dolphins but did see turtles. From my experiences in Maui, its hard not to see turtles. I saw them in several different locations.
Snorkel Black Rock at the Sheridan, it won%26#39;t cost you anything if you have your own gear. You will see just about everything you would see on a tour. There are lots of turtles there, they are really big as well. We also went over to the Big Island for a few days and we did see some whales, but the tour operator was suprised to see them so early. We also saw a bunch of dolphins.
