Carry-on Food Ideas

It%26#39;s a long flight to Hawaii.

What do you bring to eat that gets through security checks? Something that tastes great after a few hours in overhead storage?

Can we bring drinks in cans or glass bottles these days?

Just curious on what everyone else brings.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. I hat waiting for the food and drinks on long flights.

Not sure about it tasting great, but if you take along some cup o%26#39;noodles you can ask the flight attendant for some hot water during the flight.

Carry-on Food Ideas

As the wise Homer would say:

';DOH!!!!!!!!';

I meant to say that I ';hate'; waiting. I am sure all you smart folk out there figured that one out though!

We have 16 hours of travel time next week (2 stops all the way from the East Coast). Here is what I plan to bring for a family of 4:

Quaker Caramel Rice Cakes

Pretzels

Chex Mix

Mini cereal boxes (Froot Loops, etc.)

Granola bars

Pop-Tarts

1 large bottle of water each (I will buy more on each layover)

Cold Pizza in ziploc bags

Easter Candy (we leave next day)

Gum

Also, I am thinking of taking 2 smaller bottles of water, freezing them, and putting them in a soft side cooler to keep yogurt and sandwiches cold. Once the water melts, it will be perfect to drink!

Cold Pizza in baggies goes on the list! Great ideas.

I%26#39;m asking because our flight is ';Food for Purchase';. We had to ditch HA this year because we wanted to leave in the evening after dinner. I was so tired of waking up in the morning and rushing around to make the Hawaiian Airlines flight in the middle of another sunny day in Hawaii. We%26#39;ll sleep the flight away going back this time. I%26#39;ll miss the drive-thru check though.

Do you all know if you are allowed to bring those mini bottles of Alcohol on the flights? I know we%26#39;ll want to have a few drinks and it%26#39;s so expensive on the flight so we thought about bringing a few of our own. I just wasn%26#39;t sure if we would be allowed!

Thanks

Man Hangdog,

gr8 ideas! I can tell you ar an experienced mom...er...dad???? I dunno, but good ideas anyway. You forgot the mustard, though.

We also take some sort of breath fresheners, mints etc..mouth gets might sour after a long flight....

wendy 1212..

if you bring those mini bottles on the flight, use them discreetly..10 minutes in the naughty chair if you get busted with them..... seriously, the answer is no, you are only allowed to consume alcohol you purchase from the stewards and stewardesses...

We bring cold cut sandwiches packed in a small collapsible insulated cooler with one of those frozen ice pack things inside. Also pack fruit, nuts, sliced cheese and crackers as well. We%26#39;re also thinking of bringing along a few small bottles of wine- cheaper than paying $5 for the ones on the plane. On the way back, we bring sushi from one of those fast food places on the islands.

I think that alcohol is a liquid flammable. Pretty iffy should I want a great security experience. Make sure it%26#39;s cheap and that you don%26#39;t hesitate in throwing it away.

If I have to throw something away at the checkpoint, I open it first and put it in the trash upside down, or make it unusable.
