The most tender, sweetest lobster I ever had was a ';mexican lobster'; in cancun. How do you think maui%26#39;s lobsters rate? Is there a particular restaurant to go to for the best lobster dinner on Maui?

We ordered lobster on our last night (room service - Wailea Marriott) and it was delicious.Comparable to the lobster we ate in the US Virgin Islands.

The dish my husband had was lobster tail and petit filet mignon and it was $45.

Going to Cabo in July and I now plan to try some ';mexican lobster';, sound so good!

I had the best lobster i%26#39;ve ever had in my life at Humuhumu last summer - one of the biggest tails i%26#39;d ever been served too! Came with a filet mignon that was also spectacular, as was the lobster bisque and the chocolate lava cake. Everything was cooked perfectly, nothing has lived up to it since.

Also tried lobster at Pacific Grill at the Four Seasons, also very good. They even had mashed potatoes with chunks of lobster in them.

I think the lobster at both restaurants was in the high $40%26#39;s to $50%26#39;s range, it%26#39;s been a while so I can%26#39;t remember exact prices. I could be way off. I know I thought it was reasonable because we pay $65+ for lobster %26amp; filet mignon at our favorite restaurant here in California. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll pay by the pound at some restaurants in Maui and it will be much more costly. It%26#39;s vacation - splurge!

We usually spent $150+ for 2 people for dinner without alcohol - usually 1 appetizer, 1 soup or salad, 2 entrees and 1 dessert. We couldn%26#39;t believe how much we spent on meals for our family of 4 for the week, it%26#39;s insane when you think about it!

I am drooling!!!! Can%26#39;t wait to try these places. Havent been to any of the ones suggested. I was surprised no one mentioned nicks. (Haven%26#39;t been there either) The review posts are not as favorable as the forum posts seem to be. In fact some of the reviews were horrible. Oh well, I feel lucky to be able to find out for myself!

We were very pleasantly surprised that room service lobster was so good (hubby needed pampering after whole week of rain and virtually no pool/beach time)

Next time, will try lobster in restaurant, although still a little scared of %26#39;market price%26#39;.

I wanted to try the lobster at Nick%26#39;s but had had lobster the night before at Humuhumu. Got Opakapaka (?) fish at Nick%26#39;s that was amazing, also try the crab cakes if you like them - very good! The service there is top notch too - great waiters!

i just looked up some of the restaurants recommended and was surprised to read maine, spiny, and pacific lobster on the menus. I%26#39;m not familiar with spiny and wonder where exactly in the pacific these ';pacific'; lobsters are from. I%26#39;d like to try locally caught lobsters and not something i can get right here in chicago. I was really hoping I%26#39;d read ';hawaiian or ';';maui'; lobster on the menu. Can anyone help?

spiny lobster can be locally caught. The other commercial lobster in Hawaii is the slipper lobster which is pretty small compared to Maine or Spiny lobsters.

The local spiny%26#39;s are great! They don%26#39;t have any claws so are quite different from the Maine lobsters. All the meat is in the tails and they are thick and sweet with great textured meat. If you are a lobster lover you have to try.
