Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort - Maui Honeymoon

I booked a room at the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort in August for my honeymoon usin miles. Has anyone stayed there recently that could give me any info on the resort. My finace and I are looking for nice beaches with snorkeling, a relaxed resort, and great restaraunts in the area. Does the Renaissance fit the bill or should I look elsewhere in the area? Most of the reviews I%26#39;ve read are positive. Any input would be appreciated!

It is indeed, a really nice place to stay with a great beach, but I%26#39;ve heard they%26#39;re pulling it down sometime this year, not exactly sure when........

Does anyone have an update?

Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort - Maui Honeymoon

We stayed at the Wailea Marriott a couple of weeks ago and I walked the grounds of the Renaissance. Was very nice--smaller pool than the other Wailea resorts, but it sounds like you%26#39;re more beach people anyway. I believe the Renaissance is on Ulua beach, which has decent snorkeling. There are no beach chairs on Ulua beach, though. You are also within walking distance (10 minutes down a beautiful beach path that connects all of the resorts in Wailea) to Wailea beach. There are plenty of chairs to use at that beach. Wailea has tons of great restaurants, many that you could walk to. I think you%26#39;ll have a blast!

In regards to the last post, you could have problems getting a chair on Wailea beach. The chairs on Wailea beach are the chairs for the guests of The Grand Wailea and The Four Seasons. There are Towel huts on the beach for each resort, the guys set up chairs, umbrellas and covers for resort guests. You will be asked your name and room number to get towels, so if you%26#39;re not staying at either of the 2 resorts on Wailea beach you will not be able to use the chairs, etc. If you just walk up and sit on them chances are sooner or later the guys will come around and ask for your room and name - you won%26#39;t have their towles (striped for the Wailea and cream colored for the Four Seasons) so it%26#39;s not hard to tell who doesn%26#39;t belong - you%26#39;ll be asked to move. We saw this happen constantly while staying at the Four Seasons. Just so you know what to expect.

The Maui Onion at the Renaissance is a nice place to eat for lunch. You will be within walking distance of the Shops at Wailea where there are some good places to eat. Rachel at the Renaissance help desk is a wonderful source of information. We haven%26#39;t stayed at the Renaissance in several years--and it%26#39;s due to be torn down this year--but we always visit the property while there. We stay at the Ekahi condos just down the road (nicer beach).
