Does anyone know what the condition of the Allerton Gardens is? I know I can call them and ask, but they%26#39;ll probably tell me it%26#39;s fine even if there has been damage, so I was just wondering if anyone knew the real story. Would hate to waste money going there if it%26#39;s in a bad way right now...

ALLERTON GARDENS
Good question as to the condition of Allerton Gardens, but did not hear of any problems when we were there.
Might want to give them a call at 808-742-2623......they are always very helpful.
Do get RESERVATIONS...I think it was about
$30.00 per person, and we felt well worth it.
Plus we are helping keeping the gardens in operation. Very special.
Your docent will drive you in a tram for the first part of the tour, then you will walk the second half, and then back into the tram to return to the departure area and your car.
Allerton Gardens is located on Lawaii road just before getting to Spouting Horn.

Yes, I thought about the money helping them, and if it was just me, I%26#39;d go anyway and chalk it up to helping them out. But my parents have very little spending money so we%26#39;re trying to make the most of it. We%26#39;ve already dropped Fern Grotto off the list because the reviews of it were not that good, and we didn%26#39;t want to pay $25 for something that was just so-so. But my mother loves gardening, so I really want to go to this place... I%26#39;ll call them up....
thanks!
Well, I called them and they said that they did sustain some damage, they can%26#39;t take the tour to some parts of the garden, but it%26#39;s still beautiful.
We toured the gardens on Friday. Just got back home today. I%26#39;ll write a trip report once I%26#39;ve recovered. The gardens were great and we didn%26#39;t notice any damage. Even my nine-year-old son said it was one of his favorite parts of the trip.
Thank you so much for your report! Are there a lot of blooming flowers?
So many beatiful ginger plants blooming and lots of things I had never seen. On the phone they tell you to bring mosquito spray, but there was only one spot (by the Diana fountain) where we had any problems. It%26#39;s a slow, leisurly walk. We had 9 people in our group - which was a nice number. Our guide (jane) keeps her groups small. We were in the 9:00 group and we finished at 11:15. I was impressed by the running water/fountains. Now my son thinks he wants to be a botonist or doctor that gets medicine from plants.
:o)
sorry for the spelling errors!
Awesome, thanks!
We really loved the McBryde Garden - it%26#39;s cheaper because you tour on your own. The variety of plants and tropical flowers is amazing! Don%26#39;t know what state it%26#39;s in right now... The mosquitos are probably quiet now because of the rains - when we were there in Sept. 04 I got feasted on by the little buggers (maybe I%26#39;m just particularly tasty to them). Now I don%26#39;t set foot on Kauai without Jungle Juice...
