Paging HawaiiDan and Typically Tropical

We will be staying at the Magic Sands for a week next January 07. Some friends (2 couples) are going to meet up with us for 3 days after they get off a cruise of the islands but don%26#39;t want to stay in condos. What are 2 or 3 nice hotels that are fairly close to the Magic Sands? They will want 4 or 5 star accommodations, oceanfront rooms with really nice grounds, pool, etc. We will be picking them up in our rental vehicle and showing them around so we don%26#39;t want to travel very far and have to deal with traffic just to go pick them up. Thanks for any help you can give.

Gosh, I wish all questions were this easy! There is only one choice: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort %26amp; Spa. Another hotel close by is the Outrigger Keauhou Bay Resort but it%26#39;s more like a three star hotel.

The Outrigger is one mile south...And is like a bestwestern... however it has a good bar,luau,and restauraunt. It is a good quality place figure around $200 a night in jan. It has the advantage of being on Kahalulu bay, which is a very good place to swim, surf and snorkel... no coral but lots of fish and calm waters.

Sheraton just got 80 million into their place, has one of the best bars in kona..if not Hawaii... Blue Crystal where you can sit and watch mantas at night. Kai there is an excellent dining place and they have one of the top luaus here. It sits on a rocky point overlooking Keauhou bay and has the second best pool on the island with a huge waterside.....Figure around $260 a night in Jan. It is 3 miles south of your condo.

Magic Sands has its own restauraunt Jamesons which ok food for high prices, Its owner prides himself thet he has not changet the menu in 40 years.....

as a note.....Sheraton a 4 star in my book Outrigger a 2.8 star.

Thanks, guys. You both are the greatest and I feel blessed to have you to turn to for questions. We love the Magic Sands, but hardly ever eat at Jamesons. We usually just cook out on the grill and enjoy the wonderful sunsets by the pool area. I%26#39;ll pass on to our friends your recommendations.
