thanks for the tips-decided to drive the road vs tour but want to stay overnight...? best place for half way point, or do the whole road and then go to hotel??? Find these tips so helpful. thanks

It would be best to stay in or near Hana town for one night, after you drive the first half. Oheo Gulch, the Red Sand Beach, Black Sand Beach can be places you visit on a second day in Hana, after staying overnight. There are many homes and condos that rent out rooms. We are staying at the Hana Oceanfront Cottages on Hamoa Bay in about a week +.

Hana town also has their own website with resources and you can search through the hotel section on the left for Hana.

there isnt really a half way point hotel. There%26#39;s basically nothing except scenery until you get to hana so you%26#39;ll have to make the drive to hana first.

Go with herbalgirl for accomodation advice. all i know is the hotel hana.

Be sure to check under ';B %26amp; B'; and ';Other Lodging'; sections within this site, not just the ';Hotel'; section. I have heard good things about the Tradewinds. Maui Kitty has stayed in Hana and so have others.

We%26#39;d stayed at Hana Maui Vacation Rentals. Nice, clean, TV with cable,about $80. Ask for extra pillows. The grounds are beautiful. You can google it. Oh, And staying a night is a great idea.

My most important suggestion...take sandwich meat or hotdogs and snacks in a cooler to eat for lunch and dinner. If you get to Hana by 4 you can have a late lunch at Tutu%26#39;s, which isn%26#39;t bad. You want to avoid Hana Ranch Hotel. Food is medicore and ridiculously overpriced. It will ruin your evening. You can buy sandwich meat, bread at the General Store (also has ATM) but there prices are higher than Lanai and Molokai, which I didn%26#39;t quite understand.

Don%26#39;t forget to finish the drive by going around the back. It%26#39;s so beautiful.
