hyatt grand regency questions

Can you swim at their beach? (I know there is a man-made salt water lagoon, but I am referring to the beach itself.) Is there access to the beach itslef, and can you swim in the ocean.

Other question---is there a lot of shade? Are there cabanas? If so, do they charge for them?

hyatt grand regency questions

My wife and I stayed there last Nov for our Honeymoon and had a wonderful time.

Answering your questions, there is a good amount of shade, especially in or around the pool and garden area. There were not alot of options at the Beach, called ';Shipwreck Beach'; itself.

The beach conditions were pretty steep for swimming. The water temp was cool but fine, but the waves were 3-6 feet with a lot of suck back and knocking around. No reef protection there. So its a good beach to perhaps surf and body board, or stand around and get it beat up or knocked around by the waves. But as far as swimming or kids playing, it would be dangerous in my opinion.

But, you do have pools and lagoon 50 ft from the beach.

And if that doenst work, Poipu Beach is a 5 min drive from Hyatt, there along the coast, and it has wonderful reef protected swimming areas for kids, snorkling for adults, and some nice beaches for laying around on.

Hope this helps a bit!

The beach at the Grand Hyatt is quite beautiful. There is easy access to the beach itself. The hotel is just set back a bit from the beach. However, the surf is pretty strong here and they normally don%26#39;t recommend swimming in the ocean unless you are an exceptionally strong swimmer. However, I saw several people swimming here so it certainly can be done.

I don%26#39;t remember seeing any cabanas on the beach, but I might be wrong about this. There is not much shade in the beach area. Actually, most of the people seemed to be near the Hyatt%26#39;s fabulous pools. You won%26#39;t be disappointed with this hotel. Poipu Beach (which is better for swimming) is within walking distance of the hotel. It might be too much for small kids to walk here, though.
