hana lodging - help!

My wife and I will be in Maui for our 25th anniversary this July. The second week of our vacation is already set for Ka%26#39;anapali but for the first 4 days we want to be in Hana (or close by). We are looking for lodging that is different from the standard hotel/condominium and yet it%26#39;s important to my wife that it be very clean and attractive. Personally, I would like something that I can walk out the door and be in a tropical setting and take some interesting hikes. Does anyone have any suggestions? We need to keep the price under $200/night. Thanks for your help!

We are staying at a B%26amp;B in March so I will post then and let you know:-)

You can google Hana B%26amp;B and find a variety of options. If we have time while we are there, maybe we will check several out just to see nad post our impressions.

I failed to mention that we need a kitchen - so a traditional B%26amp;B wouldn%26#39;t work. -- I%26#39;ve read good things about Ekena - has anyone tried it? Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

There are quite a few lodgings in Hana that have kitchens - I did a quite a bit of research a few years ago for our honeymoon, but we were on a tighter budget than you. We found a place, similiar to a duplex right near the Wainapanapa (sp??) State Park. It was okay, not terribly attractive, but it was only $80 a night, and had a full kitchen, so it worked out okay for the 2 days we were there. I just remember that I had found about 10 places that had at least some type of kitchen. Often B%26amp;B%26#39;s do have something - we stayed in one in Kihei that had just about everything - micro, fridge, toaster, grill - just not a stove/oven. By the way, I really enjoy our couple of days in Hana - the starry nights were incredible, I love the lush tropical feel, and it was nice to take our time, not just trying to do the Hana day trip thing. Good luck! Oh, you might have luck using the Maui Revealed book, as their website often shows lodgings not often found. :)

My next door neighbors just returned home from a trip to Maui and since I had just been there in October and wished that I could have stayed a couple of nights near Hana, I suggested that they try to do so. They were NOT disappointed at all. They said that they four nights they spent there were the best nights on Maui. They stayed in a B%26amp;B (more of a cottage) called the Hana%26#39;s Tradewind cottages. The absolutely LOVED it (and they had two little ones with them).

Have an amazing time and please post your report of where ever you end up in the area. My husband and I are already planning on our next trip with the idea that we want to spend at least four nights in the Hana area and then the rest of the time in either Kaanapali or Kahana. Loved it there for our honeymoon

Aloha

We stayed 2 nights in the Hana Cabana. It had a full kitchen, very clean and nicely decorated, close to the State Park with the black sand beach. It%26#39;s right in the middle (literally) of a tropical flower farm, you have your own private covered porch with a Hibachi and hot tub for 2. It was divine!!!

We stayed at the Hana Sunrise House (www.hanasunrise.com) for two nights last February. I can%26#39;t think of a more romantic place that I%26#39;ve ever been. The prices were reasonable by Hawaii standards too. The house is in EXCELLENT condition.

Hi. I received your question in my email box. I have stayed at a cottage in Hana. It is on vrbo.com. It was a two bdrm for 150/night. The yard was tropical with fruit and flowers. The furnishings are somewhat simple but it is updated and clean. I had some family members stay at the Bamboo Inn which looks beautiful on the exterior but is worn and somewhat dirty on the interior. If you want the vrbo number please email.

We stayed at the Hana Kai Maui a couple of years ago and loved it. Obviously not as luxurious or beautiful as the Hana Hotel, but a fraction of the cost. Our condo was clean, had a beautiful view of the beach and was quite roomy.

Happy 25th anniversary!! What a feat.

We are staying at the Hana Oceanfront Cottage in April. It may be slightly higher than your price range, but way less than the Hotel Hana. The hosts have been incredible and we aren%26#39;t event there yet! They sent a packet of actitivites and a personalized countdown calendar w/color photos and our names on it.

The cottage is on Hamoa Bay in Hana, is professionally decorated, has a full kitchen w/cappucino maker and industrial strength stove. It looks GORGEOUS.

Good luck.

We just returned Wed. We spent two nights in Hanna at Hanna Bay Hale. It was a very nice one bedroom unit. It has wood floors, sky light, sitting area, dining area, bedroom with sliding doors to seperate from living area. The bathroom was nice with tile shower. It has a small kitchen with small frig, microwave and hot plate. There is a private deck with table chairs and a nice gas grill. I would go back any time.
