Area around Mahana--always windy?

I have been seeing comments that the ResortQuest Mahana is in a very windy area--is that many peoples experience? Is it exceptionally breezy? I know it can get windy around Black Rock towards afternoon time, but then you are ready for a nice breeze :)

Area around Mahana--always windy?

I%26#39;ve stayed for years at the Maui Kai and that is right next door to the Mahana. I have been there as early as April but usually visit in August. It is always calm until afternoon when the wind can come up. Each day is different but if it will be windy later you can see the white caps begin off shore comming from the north and moving south as the day progresses.

Most days are mild but the winds are heavier in the afternoon. Mornings are almost always mild. Very few afternoons are too windy to lay out by the pool or swim in front of the Mahana. Usually, the breeze is a benefit to cool off a warm afternoon.

Having said that...once it was windy for my entire stay. I tried to lay on the beach and hid my face under my towel and in 15 minutes there was a sand drift that was threatening to cover me completly. We fondly refer to those winds as the ';balmy trades';.

Once you get close to sunset, the winds will die down and the evening is mild.

The Mahana is a great property and a great location. I stay at the Maui Kai and wouldn%26#39;t stay anywhere else. Have a great trip.
