Costco, Sam's Club or Neither?

Should I get a Costco or Sam%26#39;s Club membership before I go? Which would you recommend? I%26#39;ll be in Waikiki then Kailua.

I%26#39;ll be there for 2 months and I can get a pretty good deal on a membership.

I have a Costco card..I don%26#39;t think we have a Sam%26#39;s Club in Canada..do we?? I got a great rate with my costco card re: car rentals thru%26#39; National in Maui

It%26#39;s probably not a bad idea, especially if you%26#39;re going to be there for that long. Both places are good if you want to stock up on things. They have a Costco and Sam%26#39;s Club in Honolulu. Not sure which one is better. They%26#39;re both basically the same to me.

If you%26#39;re going to be there for two months I think a membership would be worth it. I personally prefer Costco for ethical reasons and it seemed like it was the more popular choice for locals when I lived there.

Are either places closer to Kailua or Waikiki?

last may i was in honolulu, i visited both

sams and costco.

the costco at alakawa is close to waikiki,

it has cheaper gas price.

the costco in hawaii kai is closer to kailua.

sams the one near ward center has bigger

section of ready made food.

Sam%26#39;s in Honolulu is by far the best. We can drive there from Kailua in about 30 minutes on a normal traffic day. It%26#39;s a megaplex connected to a Walmart with more touristy bargains than ever.

Go to Walmart first. Get your coolers and sun items. They have a 1/4 acre of tourist items all in one area. Prices are ALMOST as good as the swapmeet on SOME items. Chocolate and Kona coffee items are in their own area, by the case or singles.

Then go to Sams Club on the second floor. Sit outside and have a drink or some pizza. We never shop Sams on an empty stomach, or without a drink for washing down the samples :^)

Use the coolers for the ride back home to Kailua. Take the cases of chocolate right over to the post office and mail them home to a friend, or right before you leave.

Next to arriving, Sams and Walmart are our largest major effort. Everything else is beach time and eating.

Which one would be better for you in Chicago? That is the one I would go with.

Sam%26#39;s Club in Honolulu near Ala Moana Center (this is the one with WalMart below it) and also in Pearl City.

Costco in Hawaii Kai, Waipio (near Mililani) and Iwilei (between airport and downtown Honolulu)

There are also food market chains like Foodland, Safeway %26amp; Times. A lot more expensive than Costco or Sam%26#39;s, but you can get a card at those for better prices.

Chinatown is great for fruits %26amp; veggies.

Kam Super Swap Meet also has a great farmers market section.
