First trip to Maui

Looking for suggestions for our first trip to Maui. Want to rent a condo...probably equivalent of 4stars. On the ocean or very close (why not got for the gusto?)Based on advice are looking at Napili, Kaanapali, Kehei and Wailea...for September 10 days approx. Accommodation only advice right now...gotta get booking. Will call on y%26#39;all later for sights, restaurants, activities - etc. Used this forum last year for Hwy 101 trip Monterey to Santa Barbara advice helped make the trip excellent! Thanks in advance

First trip to Maui

Kaanapali area condos - Whaler and Kaanapali Alii. We%26#39;re staying at Kaanapali Alii in June, I%26#39;ll report back. I think www.VRBO might be a good source as well. Good luck.

First trip to Maui

Rent direct from owners, it will save you $. www.vrbo.com We use a great couple from Chicago there website is www.magicalmauicondo.com. Wonderful condo at the Whaler, less expensive and better located then Kaanapali Ali. The sooner the better for booking, Sept. is High season. Trust me....PS.....T-minus 24 days and we will be back.

Any questions please post. ON AOL

I%26#39;d consider looking at expedia, travelocity, and a travel agent,ect... to book a condo/flight package. Both times we booked this way our room only ended up costing about 30$ a night more than if we had booked just the flight. We stayed only six nights, so your price might be more. I bet you can get a good deal if you go this route though.

The Whaler has a great location IMO.

Wailea will have what you describe. Do check the VRBO and similar websites to rent direct from an owner. If you book through an agency they will give you whatever condo is ready to go when you arrive. By renting direct, you know you will get that exact condo.

You might think twice about spending 10 nights listening to the surf (oceanfront). I can only take that for a couple of nights before it gets annoying. Also if you stay up in West Maui, be aware that it takes a while to get anywhere else on the island. What looks like a short distance on the map is a two-lane, winding road going up to Lahaina. If you get behind a farm truck in no hurry...well, you get the picture.

If you want to think about staying across from the ocean (oceanview) and three stars is enough, you could consider Maui Kamaole in South Kihei. The Canadians we%26#39;ve had as guests have liked it well enough to return.
