I realize this is a pretty specific post...but has anyone stayed at the Kamaole Sands in building 8 unit 311? We%26#39;ve stayed at the Kam Sands before so I know the lay-out but we%26#39;ve never stayed in building 8.
Kamaole Sands Building 8
We are staying at the Castle Kamaole Sands on our first trip to Maui in May. Are there any buildings that we wouldn%26#39;t want to stay in there? Also what do you recommend to go and see while there? Thanks
Kamaole Sands Building 8
Actually maybe yes. I%26#39;m pretty sure our room was 311. I don%26#39;t remember what building # we were though. We were in the southeast building.
Yep, we stayed at building 8. I%26#39;m about 90% sure it was room 311 too.
Kiwi, Here%26#39;s a link to a map of the property.

CridT, I was wondering about the general condition of the unit. As well, do you get lots of sun on the lanai? I know it faces south but I wonder about the overhang from the unit above. Also, Did you hear much street noise from the alley that runs between the Kam Sands and the next complex?
Thanks!
I didn%26#39;t hear any street noise at all. We didn%26#39;t use the lanai at all, but it seemed like quite a bit of light was coming though, so I%26#39;d assume it was getting quite a bit of sun.
I thought the condition of the room was very good. It looked to me like almost all of the tile was newer. All of the appliances seemed to work fine.
Building 8 is the least desireable building in the complex based on location followed closely by number 9 and then number 4. This is mostly because they are located outside of the ';inner courtyard'; and just do not provide the level of ';resort'; feel enjoyed by buildings 1,2,3,5,6,7 and 10. Nor, as a rule, do they have the views. Generally, 1 and 10 are the best. Hope this helps.
We have an opportunity to book in building 10 but I was concerned that with a north facing lanai the unit would be dark inside. We%26#39;ve been leaning towards the unit in building 8 because it is a corner unit that faces south and also east towards the ocean. We%26#39;ve stayed in building one before and you%26#39;re right it is the best but we%26#39;re looking at Christmas 2006 and there%26#39;s not much available even now.
Tropixfan made some good points. I didn%26#39;t even think about them because I wasn%26#39;t interested in using those ammenities.
You don%26#39;t really need to worry so much about a south or north facing lanai, because we are so much closer to the equator that the sun goes pretty much straight over head. Of course the north gets a little less sun, but its not like on the mainland.
