Yep, we have taken the Limahuli Gardens tour. It was several years back, and absolutely excellent. BEAUTIFUL.

Or docent, at that time, not only presented info on the plants, trees, flowers, and culture...but also tossed in quite a bit of

Kauaian Mythology....INTERESTING.

In fact I purchased KAUAI TALES, which is book on the mythololgy of the garden island.

I do not know if he is still there, I dont believe so. But, definitely an excellent tour...shorter than allerton gardens, but worth it.

Please be certain to get RESERVATIONS early.

As they do book up. As you know, they are on the north shore toward the end of the road.

Keep and eye peeled as they are on the Muaka side.

last june, we had booked to go again, but were cancelled due to the rain, and were leaving the next day. You might BOOK EARLY, after your arrival.

Many thanks.

Is it true that entrance to Allerton Gardens is $30 per person. Really? Yikes.

We like to take our own sweet time to see things like gardens, so my husband and I visited both the McBryde Garden and Limahuli gardens on the self-guided tour. It%26#39;s cheaper and the book they give you at Limahuli is worth the price of admission (to quote the Ultimate Kauai Guidebook). McBryde is, as I understand it, bigger than Allerton - a van picks you up at the visitor center and drives you into the park, then picks you up later. Our driver was very funny and he shared some bizarre cactus fruit with us that was quite tasty, though extremely juicy and sticky (maybe that%26#39;s why the mosquitos thronged around me!).

Be sure you have a big memory card in your camera - I took over 200 pics at McBryde and almost that many at Limahuli.
