Luau and evening show

This is probably one of the most talked about threads on here. I still can not decide though if I want to go to the OLL or Feast at Lele. For the OLL, we are definately not the kind of people who would sit in the traditional seating area. Too many creaky bones, who would help us up? :)

Feast at Lele sounds very nice and more intimate, but maybe not the true %26#39;Hawaiian%26#39; way.

Which one is more of a cultural experience and better food/service?

OLL is buffet, so would probably be one trip.

Lele is dinner style, do they bring around seconds or is one serving enough?

We are your typical middle class upper 30%26#39;s type couple, if that helps anyone to relate to what we may be looking for.

My husband also suggested just going to both. It would of course be more expensive, but are they different enough to want to see them both?

Thanks for all of your help.

Luau and evening show

Hi

I can%26#39;t compare the two but we went to Feast at Lele a couple of years ago. I really enjoyed it. Service was good. They bring food from each of five islands and do dances from each of the islands. They didn%26#39;t have seconds but I was full and there%26#39;s nothing wrong with my appetite.

Here%26#39;s a link to the pictures we took. We had great seats.

If we ever go back, I%26#39;ll probably go to OLL just to do something different.

I%26#39;ve never been to the Feast at Lele, but I%26#39;m going there for the first time in August. If you go here, tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60634-d49…

click on ';view candid travelers photos'; and you can see some pictures of the food. It%26#39;s a 5 course meal and from what I understand, plenty of food. I don%26#39;t know much else, but don%26#39;t overthink it, pick one and you%26#39;ll love it no matter what, you%26#39;re in Maui!

Make your reservations early. We were in the front row at Feast at Lele and that was pretty cool.

Akj, I booked them, and we were the first ones for August 25th. YA! (I was told this meant front row center) FamilyinCo, this is the best tip ever, book early, no matter what.

Good for you. I don%26#39;t know if you looked at the pictures in the link I posted in a previous response but they were taken 1 or 2 tables away from the center, front row. You%26#39;ll love it.

Thanks for the tip. I just booked last night for the Feast at Lele for our upcoming trip this September. We decided to go to this Luau since it will be our 10th wedding anniversary that day. Would have liked to have gone to Mama%26#39;s Fish House instead but both my husband and I are really into Luau%26#39;s (been to both the Hyatt and OLL) so we wanted to try something different this time and stay close to our condo in Kaanapali.

When I called for the booking they told me that the earlier you call, the better chance you get a table up front which in our case we are ';up front';. I only hope the food is as good as some of the others have posted here. Seems there are a few review%26#39;s in 2005 that do not look so great.

From what I understand, the food is good. With 5 courses, there has to be something for everyone. I%26#39;m going to hold out for the 5th course. Shrimp and avocado! 2 of my favorites. I think the less desirable reviews came from folks who don%26#39;t like to try new things. Or the straight meat and potato folks. Maybe?

Of your two choices, I recommend Feast at Lele. OLL does not have a fire knife dancer.

Drums of the Pacific at the Hyatt has the best fire knife dancer on Maui.
