Travelocity is showing fares through June 8 at around $600 plus taxes from Cleveland to Maui but on very specific days of the week. We are traveling in August on a Sunday and return 11 days later on a Wendesday. We can get a flight on American Airlines from Cleveland to Dallas and then on to Maui for 788 p/p plus $54 in taxes. Should I wait to see if fares drop or buy now?
August Airline Fares?Book now or wait?
$600 looks like a really good deal.
i suggest aa.com and look for fare sales. if you%26#39;re signed up, you get the sky miles and they have really good prices on their sales...things just aren%26#39;t always on sale, so you have to catch it when it%26#39;s out!!
August Airline Fares?Book now or wait?
the $600 fare is for June and we don%26#39;t travel until mid-August. August fares are not posted yet. I just found a Northwest Airlines flighton their direct website for my dates in August for $713 a person plus taxes.
I would book sooner than later for a few reasons.
I think gas prices are going to skyrocket this summer. The Atlantic Basin is likely to experience another busy Hurricane Season (possibly worse than last year) and with all the issues in the Middle East right now I%26#39;m seriously concerned about gas prices. This will affect the cost of tickets. It%26#39;s clear it already has compared to a few years ago.
Just keep that in mind. Hurricane Season starts June 1. The first storms of any magnitude normally appear around August. But lately, it%26#39;s anyone%26#39;s guess.
I just went to Expedia and booked Northwest at $699 including taxes per person for mid-August. this is for Cleveland/Minneapolis/Honolulu/Maui. It does add 1 extra stop but it is brief and I am so happy with the price and the flight times were perfect for us. I don%26#39;t think it would drop much more than that by waiting. This taught me that you have to keep playing with all the websites to get a great fare. I also tried all the airlines directly and fares were over $800 for this time period. Travelocity was also higher than Expedia and didn%26#39;t even show the iternary schedule I booked. The NW flight on Travelocity took us from Cleveland to Minneapolis to Seattle to Maui and that is way out of the way for us to have to fly to the west coast first.
We booked United in November for April. Got a great fare. Can%26#39;t imagine why they won%26#39;t let you book 6 months in advance?
wrong thread but now I see your dates - Kihei will be hotter and drier than West Maui in August...just a thought.
Try Mahina Surf (dot com) see what they have available...
Predicted 4 dollar a gallon gas for this summer....I don%26#39;t see fares dropping but if you feel lucky then wait. Of course all the ';cheap seats'; may be gone.
