Have stayed at four seasons in Maui couple times, and love it. Have also stayted at Hapuna, and liked it, but not as much as FS Maui. We are thinking about going back to the big island, but just can not spend a minimum of nearly $600-700 for the cheapest room there (If anyone knows how to get a cheaper rate there, it would be most appreciated!!!)
So, I am thinking that Orchid is the next closest thing....but have a few questions.
1. The cabanas--what type are they?? At the FS Maui and Hapuna, they are like tents. Really nice. But of all the pics I have seen, I can not see what style/type of cabanas they have (e.g., as opposed to a lawn chair with a cover over it). Also, how many cabanas are there???
2. Is there anything people dont seem to like at the Orchid??
3. Has the Orchid been remodled at all lately??
4. Their baths...do they have shower curtains in them, or is there a seperate glass door shower, then a seperate tub??
Thanks for the help!!!
Orchid questionsI don%26#39;t think I can answer all your questions, but I hope someone else can fill in my blanks.
1. IIRC, the cabanas are on a strip of grass between the pool and the water, not on the beach. They%26#39;re tents with nice chairs inside. I *think*. I could be confusing them with the massage huts.
2. The biggest thing for us was the isolation, but you get that at pretty much any of the Kohala resorts. We%26#39;re not usually resort people but were splurging for an anniversary. FWIW, we had considered Kona Village and the 4S but balked at the prices and decided on the Orchid.
3. Don%26#39;t know.
4. I think they might have the glass door shower and separate tub, but I%26#39;m not sure. I do know the toilet was in a separate little room.
