Any coupons for Dollar rent a car, any bad or good experiences? Any tips to getting a free upgrade? Do they let you pick a car from a row or just give you one? Do they offer the ability to upgrade on the spot... we%26#39;re renting a compact anyone know what they%26#39;ll give us? What%26#39;s gas prices on Hawaii right now?

We used Dollar and had a positive experience. It was very easy to bring the car back and shuttle over to airport. They will have a few choices of compact car models and you can pick or if you don%26#39;t care they will just give you one. We had rented a convertible, and they asked hubby if he cared what kind we got, he said no, and they gave him a PT Cruiser. It was new, clean, 2006, 2000 miles.

Did you have to wait long for the shuttle? We are visitng Maui for one day from Lanai. We will be arriving via ferry to Lahaina pier. We have short time between our arrival and our helicopter tour in Kahuli heliport. I know that here is one shuttle.

We waited a couple mins. to pick us up, and not at all to take us back. The shuttle just keeps making the loop over and over, and it is not too big of a loop.

Does Dollar run a shuttle from Lahaina to Kahului? I wasn%26#39;t aware they did.

Sorry, I didn%26#39;t read that post very well. I was referring to the shuttle at the airport that takes you to the Dollar location at the airport.

I%26#39;m on Maui now and have had a bad Dollar experience thus far. I didn%26#39;t get an upgrade and plus the car i got was horrible. Nicks and scratches all over, A/C is not cold, and car in need of a major tune up. I can see past the scratches, but I was already too far from the airport when I realized the other issues so didn%26#39;t bother returning it. My compact is a toyota corolla. gas is about $3.40. You can upgrade if you%26#39;re willing to pay for it....

I don%26#39;t think renting a car in Kahului will be the best solution for you, arriving in Lahaina and needing to get to Kahului quickly. How close to your arrival time is your helicopter flight scheduled? You will need at least an hour, most likely more to rent a car and drive to the heliport. You can rent a car from Ka`anapali locations, but the logisitcs you%26#39;ll have to arrange with the rental company.
