looking to go to maui in late june with my parents , husband, and 2 kids. What is a nice family friendly resort or condo that isn%26#39;t too pricey? We want to be at a good beach for water play. We%26#39;ve vacationed in oahu and kona, but never maui and don%26#39;t know where to start looking.
Family friendly resort in maui
Hi Bean
Surprised you haven%26#39;t heard about Kaanapali Beach Hotel - not a 5-star or deluxe property but very clean, friendly and quite Hawaiian. They have a dedicated kids program, pool for young and old and the beach is great although water can be rough and dangerous at times. Snorkeling at Black Rock just a few steps down the beach is very good and spacious grounds allow for lots of room for kids without bothering other guests.
We spent 9 days in March and would return there with our family without hesitation.

Family friendly resort in maui
My wife and I recently stayed at the Kaanapali Shores, as we also did on our honeymoon 8 years ago. We booked thru vrbo.com and were very pleased with our condo. The beach in front isn%26#39;t the best as it is pretty rocky, but the resort in and of itself was well worth it and seemed very family-friendly. Also know there are better parts to the beach within walking distance from the hotel. When we decide our young ones are ready for an extended vacation on Maui, we%26#39;ll definitely stay there again.
If you%26#39;d like info on who we rented thru just let me know. He handled everything very professionally and it went off without a hitch.
Hi Bean,
Our family has stayed at the Whaler Condominiums(twice--1997 and 2004) and Marriott%26#39;s Maui Ocean Club (2000) -- both on Kaanapali Beach. We really enjoyed both of them but for different reasons. Here are a few pics and some of our ideas about both:

Regardless of where you end up staying, you%26#39;re going to love Maui!

Aloha!
As someone mentioned, Whaler is GREAT.
BUT, if you want to save some $, look at the ResortQuest Maui Kaanapali Villas. I have stayed there many times with my family. The grounds are pretty, the staff is friendly, it won%26#39;t break the bank, and the beach is very nice. Plus, they have an on-site restaurant with decent prices. To me, it is a peaceful yet economical place to stay!
