Helicopter: Choosing Departure Time

I%26#39;ve heard that it%26#39;s best to take the helicopter tour in the morning. I%26#39;m booking early, so I have my pick of times. Is 9:00 a good time? Or should I go for an earlier/later flight. (When you pay over $400 for a 60. min ride, you want to get it right :-)

FYI: We%26#39;re going to drive to Waimea Canyon afterward and want to get there before the clouds roll in.

Helicopter: Choosing Departure Time

Helicopter departure time:

0900 would be perfect, IMHO, and since we have flown with Jack Harter, and Inter island in the mornings.

Early morning clouds have generally disapated, and the afternoon build ups have not begun. Of course, mother nature puts in her suggestions, and we just have to work around that. GOOD CHOICE !!

Once in a while Mt. Waialeale crater has a chance of being open also. Not all the time, but a possibility.

Are you flying out of port allen ? Then hiking the Canyon Trail, or taking photos from the lookouts ? Best lookout is the Pu%26#39;u O kila, but you can also enjoy others on the way up Waimea Canyon Rd.

A great fun view of Waimaea Canyon is at a small unasuming look- out on the left side of the road, Just a very few minutes from the KOKEE MUSEUM,HEADING back DOWN the mountain.. There is parking along side the road. Keep a weather eye peeled.

Here we saw a family of goats, clinging easily, to the precipice just a few feet away. Their sure footedness and bounding about was amazing. One missed step and it would have been AIR GOAT KAUAI.

If you stop at the kokee lodge, next to the museum to shop the gift store, or get a bite to eat...If I remember correctly THERE WAS NO SERVICE, we had to go to the window to order food, and beverages. That is their normal procedure.

Let us know how your flight, and Waimea Canyon adventure goes....have fun !
