Waikiki Beach

I can%26#39;t believe that my first visit to Hawaii will be without visits to the beach. I%26#39;m going on the 30th of April and staying on Waikiki. I guess I will have to just sip Mai Tai%26#39;s from afar and look but don%26#39;t touch the beach or ocean.

Waikiki Beach

dont worry about the posts here, they are WAY overboard. When you get here you will see clear blue water and thousands of people enjoying the beach.

Waikiki Beach

I agree with kailua...most of the stuff should be back to normal by then....if it was real bad, it would stand to reason that there would be a WHOLE bunch more sick people..there just isn%26#39;t, you go ahead a have fun!!!

The beaches are not unsightly. In fact, they appear to be quite inviting. It LOOKS fine, but the water and sand are still contaminated.

Just don%26#39;t go out there barefoot, and certainly don%26#39;t go swimming.

Wow, I went swimming and played barefooted on the beach in Waikiki with my family on Saturday and we are fine. I even cut my foot on the reef and cleaned it later that night at home. No infection and no problems. A lot of my friends have surfed Waikiki and none of them are sick. In fact, I don鈥檛 know anyone personally who has gotten sick from surfing Waikiki in the last two weeks. Must be a miracle!

It would seem that there are people who are determined to downplay the issue of contamination.

I%26#39;m sure some people who swam in the water at the height of contamination did not get sick. That does NOT mean that the water was safe.

I say don%26#39;t risk it.

Only SOME didn%26#39;t get sick? How bout almost nobody got sick. It seems that some people are here are ringing the panic alarm

I think this quote by ';bonoman'; about a week ago sums it quite nicely:

';We have some major panic attackers here spewing more foul things than the sewage spill.';

Very well stated Bonoman and well repeated Surfbumm!

Thanks for all the positive feedback, I%26#39;m sure I will have fun when I get there. Theres more to life then beaches.
