I am not to big on bar hopping and parties. I like them but not every night. I know some things I want to do In wakkiki. Scuba Diving class.P Harbor,Shop. But is 5 days to much or just right? Will be staying at the North Shore Turtle Bay for a couple nights after. Thanks for Info...
Is 5 Days to much for wakkiki?
I wouldn%26#39;t spend 5 days there, but that%26#39;s me. I don%26#39;t like cities. Doesn%26#39;t Turtle Bay do scuba classes?
I think you%26#39;ll find most of the shopping in Waikiki rather expensive.

We%26#39;ve found for two people it%26#39;s cheaper to sleep in Waikiki and catch The Bus, a trolley, rent a car or even take a tour. Don%26#39;t get me wrong we hit IMP and the Royal Hawaiian as well as the smaller shops, but we find for the two of us this works.
I love Waikiki and my husband and I will be spending 7 days there in May. The first time we went we only had 3 days there and it wasn%26#39;t nearly enough. We%26#39;ll spend at least 2 days driving around the island and exploring the North Shore and Windward Beaches. One morning Hiking Diamond Head, one day at the Swap Meet, a few days relaxing on the beach, a day hiking to a waterfall, walking around Waikiki at night and eating dinner at various places, shopping.... and before you know it the 7 days will be gone in no time!
So I honestly think 5 days will be pefect! : )
Since you will be staying at Turtle Bay for a couple of nights I am assuming that%26#39;s when you will be visiting the North Shore Beaches and perhaps Polynesian Cultural Center.
Waikiki is a place people either love or hate. It is a very crowded and touristy area, which means a variety of restaurants to chose from. A lot of people who said they hate Waikiki did not go outside of that immediate vacinity. Use Waikiki as home base and explore Hanauma Bay (this is very crowded since it is one of the few places to snorkel on Oahu), Sandy, Waimanalo, Kailua and Lanikai Beaches. Go to Pali Lookout, hike to Manoa Falls and/or Diamond Head. Enjoy afternoon tea at Sheraton Manoa Surfrider. Shopping is not limited to Waikiki, go to Ala Moana Shopping Center and Ward shopping area (Ward is huge area with numerous shopping complexes). Check out China Town (try dim sum at Legend or Fook Lam both at the Cultural Plaza) and Aloha Tower Marketplace. Before you know it 5 days went by and you did not even spend much time on the beach!
I was just there 15 nights, and I could%26#39;ve done more! Personally , I love it...the beautiful beach, the shops, restaurants, and the excitment, especially at night. So, it%26#39;s a matter of taste. I found when I was in Maui years ago that I got bored. So, to each their own, and you won%26#39;t know until you try!

The problem with waikiki is that it is really more of a city on the ocean than a tourist area, kanapali is a more of a tourist area, so the problem is that when you stay too long you actually begin to get this feeling that you belong in waikiki and are a part of it and you are no longer a tourist. So you might want to cut back to 3 days so it is easier to go back to minnesota.
I plan on staying 5 days in wakiki and 2-3 at turtle bay. I would love to stay longer but I have a 3 year old daughter I have to get back too.I would have like to hit maui as well but. I think just for 7-8 dyas I will stay in Oahu. Next time I go I will go Maui %26amp; maybe BI. But thanks for all the Opinions its greatly apreciated.
You can%26#39;t even begin to eat your way through Waikiki in five days, too many good restaurants of too many cuisine types.
Don%26#39;t forget to spend the better part of a day walking around Downtown Honolulu, the best experience in the city (in my opinion).
Here%26#39;s my Waikiki story - Didn%26#39;t want to start another thread.
My four friends finally took my advice and went together to Hawaii for four days. They went from the airport to the highest priced hotel. On the third day, two of them went out to the beach for an hour. Then they all left on the fourth day and came back home.
I laughed so hard when I heard this: They said that it was too expensive and they probably wouldn%26#39;t go back.
One hour on the beach total!
