Can you reserve a certain room before you go?We reserved an ocean view room. Im not sure if that means partial or ocean. Is there a difference?

Ocean View can potentially mean partial or ocean depending on the floor and side. Generally, the ocean view rooms are in the Paoakalani Tower, the tower that%26#39;s farther from the beach. You can upgrade to a Deluxe Ocean view in the Kealohilani Tower for about $50 more.

The way I understand it, Ocean View and Partial-Ocean View rooms are two different categories at the Marriott.

I called before I got here and asked what they had me booked for (there was some confusion during booking) and the front desk told me I was book for a POV but could upgrade to a full Ocean View for a fee.

I chose to stay with the partial ocean view, and requested the ';K'; tower (front tower). In my opinion, extra money for the full ocean view isn%26#39;t necessary-- we have a great view of both Diamond Head AND the ocean, without any added cost.

If possible, request a higher floor. By luck we ended up on the 24th floor and there is noticeably less street noise up here!
