Moderate hotel price for Wailea area

I%26#39;m trying to help out my daughter-in-law with her travel plans.

Her sister is getting married May 19th in Maui and is staying at the Grand Wailea Resort. Their mother just found out she has lung cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes and will have to under go immediate chemo and radiation treatments. She cannot make it now to the wedding. My daughter-in-law and her father plan on going to Maui for two nights only to see her get married while my son helps take care of the mother back at home. They will have to return home the day after the wedding.

They need to find a place to stay near the bride and groom, but cannot afford prices such as the Grand Wailea Resort. Does anyone have a suggestion for a place to stay that is nice but reasonable? Hotel, Condo, etc.?

Thanks for any input.

So sorry to hear about your daughter-in-law%26#39;s mother. How sad for the bride-to-be, and her family, and of course the mother. She must be so sad to miss the wedding.

It would be helpful if you could define ';reasonable';. They may be out of luck in staying in Wailia, but Kihei is very close and may be a cheaper choice.

I have read good things about Sugar Beach Resort Condos and they appear to be moderately priced (approx 175.00/nt)

jojow,

Thanks for your thoughts.

They are looking to spend no more than $200.00 a night for the two of them. They could share a one room hotel with two beds, but it would be nice to have a two room condo. I see some of them require more than a two night stay. They would also love to tie in a deal for a car rental.

i suggest going to biddingfortravel.com

once there, scroll down and click on maui, hawaii. Read the advice she has given to others looking for ways to get cheap deals on resorts through priceline. Good Luck! Sorry for your daughter in law%26#39;s mother.

Most condos do require a minimum four night stay. The closest reasonable place I can think of is Mana Kai Maui, immediately north of Wailea. They have a variety of room set-ups. There is a nice beachfront eating area off the formal Five Palms dining room. They were doing some remodeling of the lobby when we went to dinner there in February. It%26#39;s a sizeable place, so I think they would be likely to have availability. I know the management agents we use for our condo also rep Mana Kai (www.crhmaui.com).

I%26#39;m so sorry for your DIL and her family. I%26#39;d offer our condo but it is booked for the month of May.

Thank you to everybody. I am taking notes and working on this.

my sympathies to all involved. I think you have recieved good advice to perhaps just go 10, 15 minutes (at most i believe) down the road to kihei. We%26#39;ve also stayed at Kamaole Sands and were very happy. I believe you%26#39;d be safe with a lot of the south end kihei properties. This site is an excellent way of ruling out/choosing one.

Believe there is a B%26amp;B called Pineapple House near Wailea. They might have some thing for a couple of nights in between some bookings.

We just stayed at the Maui Prince Resort and it is right on the other side of Wailea in Makena. You get to enjoy the beauty of Wailea without it%26#39;s price tags. Our room was in with a package deal but I know it must have been right around $200 a night. We loved it there.
