sheraton maui - priceline

Hi all - I just pricelined a resort in Kaanapali for $195 in July and got the Sheraton Maui. Is this a good deal - good resort?? Thanks, Tricia

Yes to both. July is pretty expensive and to get a nice hotel like the sheraton at that price is a bargain. consider yourself lucky!

Would you mind sharing what criteria you put in for the Sheraton (ie: 4 star/5 star, street, etc)? Those rooms are usually much more in the 300.00+ range! Good job!

We loved the Sheraton--make sure you go snorkeling at Black Rock!

I went to a site called biddingfortravel.com . the person running the site helps people figure out a bidding strategy for different areas. It is a great service - you can answer her 10 questions and she will come up with a strategy for you. She does want you to go through her site when you do bid (she will send you the link). I read what she told others to do:

1. choose resort as the type of hotel you want and Kaanapali as the area.

2. Bid $180 - if rejected add Kihei as an acceptable area (there are no resorts in Kihei - so this just gives you a free rebid as they cannot give you a resort in this area) and bid $190. I was again rejected so to get another bid I added Kahlui as they also do not have any resorts and it allows me a free rebid. I then bid $195 and was accepted at the Sheraton.

Good Luck!!

Thanks so much for the assistance! It never hurts to try! Have a great time!

Great deal - we spent the last two nights of our trip at the Sheraton last month and it was great. Whaler%26#39;s Village, which is a beautiful shopping center, is a short walk along the beach. There are also some great restaurants right there too. We pricelined our room as well and paid $195 per night as well. They do tack on about a $17 dollar resort fee per day once you get there - but still you%26#39;re saving a bundle over their regular prices. They even upgraded our room at no extra charge. Hope you love it as much as we did!

First let me say that I starting visiting this board on a whim and before I knew it I had booked a trip to Maui! I also had luck with the Sheraton on Priceline for July (8-13). I did the following: Bid for Resort on Ka%26#39;anapali for $185 was rejected so I was able to get a ';free'; rebid by adding Kihei(which does not have any resorts on priceline) and upped it to $200 - they gave me a chance to rebid at $215 for acceptance and I got it for $215. I had been unsuccessful for 3 other attempts and had bid up to $240. So it really depends on your timing I guess. I was feeling pretty spectacular until I saw that hope2teach beat me out by $20! Well, hope2teach, I guess you%26#39;ll have an extra $20 for a few drinks at sunset. (Orbitz etc. had them at $405-$440 for the exact same nights). Two great sites to visit for advice on Priceline and Hotwire are BetterBidding.com and BiddingforTravel.com. Excellent sites to visit before you bid - very educational. This will be my first visit to Hawaii and I can%26#39;t wait!

Hi Datedog - Well, I may have beat you by $20 - but since we will both be watching Maui sunsets we are both winners! I%26#39;ll enjoy my $12 Mai Tais as you are drinking your $5 bottled water! :)
