I%26#39;m thinking of an off-island excursion one day (our of 7 days). We have two little kids, but both companies seem to offer excursions that can be enjoyed by everyone (from a 18mos old to senior citizens - That%26#39;s our group;-).
I know these experiences are priceless, but Trilogy trips seem a little over our budget and PWF seems to offer very similar excursions. Any feedback on them? Does anyone have experiences with both of them??
Trilogy or Pacific Whale Foundation?
Hello Auntym.....I can only report on the Trilogy. We did that company and worth every penny. The crew were fabulous, caring, knowledgable, funny. They were like family. I think the crew was half the fun. Plus the number of people that they take on the trip was key. Was not too crowded, the ratio of crew to passengers was just right. They helped my kids snorkel for the first time and gave the lessons. I hope someone can report about the other company as well so you can form a well rounded decision.
Trilogy or Pacific Whale Foundation?
I just saw your post on the other forum that you were considering Molokini. That will just be a snorkel trip to the crater. The crater gets very very crowded. Trilogy offers one that departs right from Kaanapali Beach. Literally you walk to them on the beach right at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. They travel to a much better spot (actually 2 stops depending on weather) and the snorkeling with great.....we saw octopus, eel, and tons of fish! and no crowds..it made the experience that much better, especially for first time snorkelers. Where are you staying in Maui?
One more helpful tidbit....check out www.tombarefoot.com we have booked excursions through his company before and always felt we got a good deal. Compare his pricings to the company direct pricings. You might also get other idea%26#39;s to help have a great experience in Maui.
Hi Kell82!
We are staying north of Lahaina (at one of those time-share rentals), so we have easy access to all departure spots. It%26#39;s just that $180/person seems a bit too much for our group (with 3 non-swimmers)... but maybe not. Oh, and I kinda liked the idea of supporting whale research(w/PWF), too. It%26#39;s just my personal thought;) Hmmm... I will definitely look into tombarefoot.com. Thanks, again!
Yes, I read PWF%26#39;s web site and supporting their cause sounded like a good idea as well. You will have to post your thoughts after your trip. I will be anxious to hear. My next trip to Maui will be during whale watching season and I might just have to try out this company. Look forward to your post.
Have you looked into Paragon? They, too, go to Lanai and are much more reasonably priced. Has anyone used them before?
Paragon. No question. Nice boat, nice crew nice food, nice trip, and coming back they will sail if possible. She%26#39;s FAST in a good wind. Watch out sitting on the trampoline, though; they take great glee in soaking those folks. %26lt;G%26gt;
pzp,
does Paragon go to the same place that Trilogy does?
We%26#39;ve always done Trilogy - very attractive having them pick you up from the beach and at a more convenient time. If you book ahead from their website www.sailltrilogy.com they will give you a 10% discount.
Heard good things about Paragon too. Always had a great time with Trilogy though, 8 trips and counting.....
Paragon goes from Ma%26#39;alaea to Molokini and from Lahaina to Lana%26#39;i.
