Capische, Ferraro, or Saremnto's

Which of these restaurants is the best? Please give your comments pro and con. We are headed to Maui on April 20th for 10 days

Capische, Ferraro, or Saremnto's

Did you mean Sarento%26#39;s on the Beach? I%26#39;m partial to that restaurant since I have eaten Chef Gomes%26#39; food many a time, and it%26#39;s equisite. He%26#39;s an awesome chef, and the restaurant has a wonderful view. The dress code is casual resort wear - nice aloha shirt / slacks shoes, and nice aloha dress. Is fine.

I haven%26#39;t been to the others, nor heard of it, so yeah, I choose Sarento%26#39;s :)

Capische, Ferraro, or Saremnto's

I am not familiar with Sarrento%26#39;s, but I do know the other two.

Capische is a nice place. It is very small and has nice sunset views. The service is pretty good. The food is above average Italian, but does not compare to truly great food, like Spiaggia in Chicago. After the sun goes down, you are basically sitting in the dark with no real views.

Ferraro%26#39;s is in the Four Seasons. The staff are all Four Seasons employees, and it shows. The service is exceptional. The food is good Italian, but again does not compare to the really great Italian restaurants.

What makes Ferraro%26#39;s different from Capische (other than the service) is the location directly above the beach. Sunset views are amazing, and the views and sounds after sunset are also outstanding. The beach is lighted, so you do get views after the sun goes down.

Four Seasons also has a nice bar featuring live Hawaiian music, which is great before or after dinner. Wailea also has a great paved beach front path for a stroll before or after dinner.

Ulimately, Capische is a nice place, but Ferraro%26#39;s is one of the highlights of a trip.

Have you tried Mama%26#39;s Fish House at Pa%26#39;ia? Or Five Palms in S. Kihei? Both are beachfront.

After all, you can ';eat Italian'; in almost any city.

I was SO NOT impressed with Sarrento%26#39;s... the food was not good at all really, I had the spaghetti with filet mignon meatballs, and the sauce was bland. My friend thought her fish was okay, but for the price it wasn%26#39;t worth it. The setting and service are nice... just wasn%26#39;t impressed with the food.

I just returned from the FS Maui and I must say my meal at Ferraro%26#39;s was one of the best I have ever had, I highly recommend it!

I had a terrible meal at Sarrento%26#39;s - was so disappointed as we had earmarked it for one of our two special splurge nights. Two of our entrees were so oversalted that it was literally bizarre. Left hungry after paying a large bill. Of course, should have complained but felt too bad...

Many others rave about the place so must have been an unusual occurence - guest chef who smokes heavily perhaps? Anyway, no way can I recommend it after that. We had wonderful meals at Nick%26#39;s and Mulligan%26#39;s in the same area.

sunshine, I have eaten several times at Sarentos and each time every dish was too salty. I think some people are just used to salt and these are the folks that rave about it? Personally I don%26#39;t know anyone who raves about Sarento%26#39;s. It is a place visitors go to becauseTri-Star Restaurants have a huge advertising budget and they run ads in al of the the visitor mags, none of which, btw, contain anything other than paid adverterial. Those ';reviews'; are not reviews at all.

I%26#39;ve given them many chances and I%26#39;ll never go back again, not even if someone else is paying. We have too many good places to eat to eat at a medicore place, especially for the $$ they charge.

add me to the list of sarrento haters. We dubbed it sorry-entos afterwards. we went on our last night and wanted a great meal. Literally debated on where to eat all day and picked sarrentos bc of the blue bible. GF got the osso bucco, which is their signature dish. not good at all. I got the filet, which was ok, but then again you cant really mess up filet.

the newest edition of MR does say that this place has gone down recently. Other than the view, I would never go back. Would rather go to foodland and eat 3 pounds of poke.
