Waikoloa Dining

In case you were thinking of Merriman%26#39;s Mediterranien Cafe, it%26#39;s almost across of the street.

I may be wrong, but I thought there was also a Merrimans in the Kings shops across the street from the Marriott. I am sure they would be connected. I would check it out rather than going up 19. I heard it was a good restaurant.

I can tell you the italian restaurant at the Hilton, called Donatoni%26#39;s is very good. I also liked the Kamuela Provision company (steak and seafood)at the Hilton. They had an excellent Filet mignon and a great view of the Pacific. I would recommend making reservations. The Hilton is right next door to the Marriott. We went to Marriott%26#39;s Luau and the food was good and the show was fun.

Also, if you decide to drive up 19, there is another restaurant called Edelweiss that we wanted to go to, but was closed the day we were there. It is german food.

Can%26#39;t help with breakfast. We had a light one on property.

Yes, both restaurants are connected (owned by Peter Merriman) but otherwise they are like apples and oranges. The one in Waimea is a real restaurant serving dishes based mostly on local produce, while the Cafe is more like a bistro. I prefer Daniel Thiebaut%26#39;s over Marriman%26#39;s in Waimea but it%26#39;s just a personal choice. (Daniel%26#39;s cooking is French-influenced.)

I second Hawaiian Style CafĂ©. That is true local style food and so tasty. Definitely worth the drive up from the Marriott, and better than most others on the West side. Ken’s on the East side. Haven’t been there in about 2 years but the Royal Kona restaurant used to have a good breakfast, albeit a bit spendy for what one received.

having spent a lot of time living in the fatherland (Deutchland) I must say that there is no real good german food here, not even in Hawi. Sorry it dosent measure up to even a keller.

hawaii dan: I am glad we missed the edleweiss. I am assuming you were referring to the food there not being so good.

Pzp: Another good restaurant that we dined at was Cafe Pesto. We ate at the one in Hilo. We had lunch which was pizza, calzones, ceaser salads, etc.. very good.

Aloha, the Edleweiss has a good reputation and there very few German restauants in Hawaii. Of course it wouldn%26#39;t be as good as your fatherland HD but it%26#39;s Hawaii.

I respectfully disagree with those who don%26#39;t call Edelweiss a good restaurant. The owner/chef is from Germany, as well as several of the other staff members. They don%26#39;t serve the ';Americanized'; German food, they serve authentic German food. I lived in Europe for 28 years and I had the opportunity to enjoy real German food there and Edelweiss is up to par. There is another restaurant serving good German food (Swiss Hause) but it%26#39;s on Oahu.

to me the food and menu is highly americanized .. Thats been my experience
