I am arriving next week to Honolulu and have 2 reservations for the same price at 2 different properties. Now I need you all%26#39;s help...Would you prefer the Marriott Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, or the Hilton Hawaiian Village? It is me and my cousin coming and we are both in our mid to late 20%26#39;s, we like to be close to nightlife, on the beach, we have a rental car so we are not really worried about location as far as attractions, but would like to be on the beach....
Looking at pics of the 2 places it seems like HHV has more to offer...Just wanted some feedback...If you had a choice where would you stay?
Decisions, Decisions...Please help...ASAP!!!
Never been there in a room. However, we visited there to see the ceremonies and Hawaiian presentations. We were impressed with what we saw. Very nice.
You should have a bunch of answers pretty soon from people who actually had a room at these places. Try the search box, and the reviews in the hotel specific area here while you wait.

Hi Derohn!
My husband and I stayed at the HHV 3 years ago and we will be staying there again in May. We loved it!!! We will be staying in the Rainbow Tower which is the one right on the beach. All the towers are nice though! They have great shopping and lots of restaurants to pick from. The beach is much larger then at the other Waikiki hotels. You will be able to walk to night life from the HHV. It%26#39;s a little walk into the heart of Waikiki where all the action is. In the evenings my husband and I (both in late 20%26#39;s) would grab a drink and walk down the beach toward Waikiki. We would stop at the little beach bars along the way.
The grounds at the HHV are amazing! Lots of trees, flowers, fish, penguins, etc. You can%26#39;t go wrong by staying there!
Good luck!
Thank you all...Hopefully more opinions will come from more experts, but you all have been a great help so far...
the beach in front of the HHV is busy and not so nice...the grounds are beautiful tho%26#39;. I found that we would end up walking all the way down the beach looking for the perfect spot, usually ending up in front of the ';pink hotel';
I think that action would be found at the other end of the beach too, HHV is sort of the last in line heading toward the outer section of Waikiki.And lets not forget that the HHV is right next door to where the infamous sewage dump entered the ocean...
My vote would be for the Marriott
We just stayed a few weeks ago at both of them! Both are nice, but the HHV is much nicer than the Marriott Waikiki, much more of a resort. The HHV is at one end of Waikiki, basically, and the Marriott at the other end. It is easier to walk to the middle of the action from the Marriott, though.
The beach is nice at both. HHV is actually on the beach, where the Marriott is across the street from the beach. We did see many more homeless people on the street by the Marriott.
Marriott is the better choice although it is not actually on the beach it is 5 seconds away across the street. The Hilton%26#39;s beach is isolated from the heart of Wakiki and boring to go to unless you just want to tan and swim with other tourists. Mariott is surrounded by nightlife and action while the Hilton is slightly removed. Waikiki is very small though. It would only take about 20 min. to walk from the Marriott to the Hilton. Hilton is a better hotel but Marriott is in a better location.
Thank you all...I think we are going to go with the Hilton...Thats basically the concensus that I am getting...The Hilton overall is the better choice....If you have any other tips or suggestions please share...Thanks again!
We just returned from Ohau last week. Stayed next door at the Hale Koa (military hotel). The grounds and the beach at the HHV are very nice. You will not be disappointed. For night life, try Duke%26#39;s at the Outrigger Hotel. Enjoy!
If you are interested in nightlife, my opinion is definitely the Marriott. The Hilton is isolated from the Waikiki strip. If u rarely wanna get to the action, the Hilton is ok...but it really is a distance from the International Marketplace %26amp; nightlife on main street, and the other major hotels. I%26#39;ve been to Hawaii 6 times %26amp; personally wouldn%26#39;t stay that far away...if you want peace %26amp; quiet there are better hotels a distance from Waikiki than the Hilton.
