OK, now that I know I%26#39;m not the only one obsessing over this forum AND E-bay, I thought it would be fun to see what items everybody%26#39;s been purchasing from E-bay for their trip. I%26#39;m not going to Maui until December and I already have a pile of E-bay purchases including . . .
1 swim suit
1 Hilo Hatties dress
1 wrap skirt
3, yes 3 pairs of Tevas - flip-flops, water tennis shoes, AND regular sandals
My ';wish list'; still includes sandals and an aloha shirt for hubby, waterproof wallet for snorkeling, and a backpack. I think I%26#39;ll pick a cooler up at Target.
Your purchases???
E-bay purchases . . .
Are you a size 7? Maybe you have been stealing my Tevas? :) I have been trying to bid on Tevas and get a good price for WEEKS now! Those things sell like hotcakes on Ebay. I also bought a dress and 2 tops....all Victoria%26#39;s Secret brand for super cheap each on Ebay. I love it!!!
E-bay purchases . . .
Nope, I%26#39;m an 8 so I%26#39;m not your culprit! I%26#39;ve been fortunate enough to find pretty good deals. Just keep at it - one of my tactics is to sort my findings by ';newly listed'; and look for good ';buy-it-now'; deals. That way you%26#39;re looking at items that only a few people have seen yet. Also I find that I get better deals when auctions end in the middle of the day. You may already know all this, but thought I%26#39;d throw it out there for any E-bay newbies.
I have purchased on EBay:
New camera
Travel pillows
Hiking boots (2pr)
Water shoes
Travel blankets
Folder for ALL MY RESERVATIONS
Vacuum pack bag
Computer case
Head lamps
Memory Cards for camera
And I don%26#39;t leave for another month....
I found Teva water shoes on Ebay before my March trip. I purchased Teva sandals online at Active-sandals which had good prices.
On Ebay I also found an Aquapac case to use with my digital camera to take underwater photos.
Ummm, dare I say it?...Tevas in size 7 (but they were water shoes ok)
2 hawaiian shirts for my hubby
1really bad dress that looks like 2 of me could fit into.
2 swimsuits.
Got outbid on a waterproof fannypack.
Not having too much luck on ebay, maybe not the right time. I go in August, so maybe I%26#39;ll try later in the summer.
Ah hah! I found my Tevas stealer. :~) Just kidding. I am trying for a very specific pair.....the Spoiler III in tan with orange accents.
Hmm....sounds like you guys are going to force my list of ';watched items'; to grow!
Bwah!!!! I GOT those Tevas!!! (only it was one of my first ';trip'; purchases back in Feb.....and they%26#39;re a 7!! LOL!!) Also managed to get two more pairs of the flip flop type...and boy are they comfy!
I had been watching that waterproof fanny pack, too, and it was too rich for my blood. I ended up getting something from the dive shop here called a dry box...used for scuba diving, so completely submersible....anyways, the owner suggested I put THAT into an inexpensive nylon fanny pack (which I already own) and presto.......done deal!
Also managed to get the backpacks (yes, plural) and a couple of Tommy Bahama floral shirts for DH.
He%26#39;s threatening to cut off my ebay account..........I%26#39;m now looking at a pair of Maui Jims!!!!!
How funny! They must be popular. They just look more feminine and comfy than the nylon strap ones. Congrats on scoring your pair.
Wanna know something funny? My company has these offbeat seminars every week....all kinds of topics. Next week is an Ebay buying/selling strategies seminar. They must track internet activity and saw that it is a popular site to visit while at work. :~) I will definitely be at that one!
Thanks for the tip on the fannypack. That%26#39;s a great idea.
Looked at your Spoiler III%26#39;s and those do look nice. They don%26#39;t have your color now. I use to have these slip on Tevas. They were blue leather and it criss-crossed, (kind of clog style) they were the best, but I got stuck in the mud at a mountain lake, and I lost them. I can%26#39;t find that style anymore at all. What I%26#39;m really looking for is a comfy pair of sandals that I can wear to dinner. Brand suggestions anyone?
Oh I also got the cutiest reversable tote bag on ebay, made in Hawaii, with turtles on it.
Two Aquapac Keymasters.
