Hi just wondering if HA%26#39;s first class is worth the cash? it is a flight from vegas to Hawaii for about an extra $400 each.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Hawaiian airlines first class, is it worth it?
Dougle...
I%26#39;d say that if it was $200 cost per leg for a roundtrip (totaling $400) it is probably worth it; but still on the edge. But for $400 one-way it is pricey.
Hawaiian first class from the mainland is a definite upgrade from coach (unlike some of the other airlines these days). The food is really good, like in the old days, with a multi-course menu prepared by some famous Hawaiian chefs, with separate salad/appetizer, main and dessert servings.
The drinks flow, the seats have all kinds of adjustments (foot, leg, lumbar), and they normally give you a private DVD player in addition to free access to the on-board entertainment system.
Plus you save about ten minutes in the deplaning process; although they are mixed in the success of getting those ';priority'; checked bags out first in the claim area as they promise.
However, if you are a really big guy like me, the seats are still not large enough (like on other airlines)...but still a solid cut above coach.

Seems like a lot of $$ for a 6-hour flight.
I recently flew them and if you can get a first class seat for only $400 rt then that is a very good deal. Grab it
The seats in coach have 32 inches of leg room and are 18 '; wide First class gives you 42 inches and a 21 inch wide seat. The seats are the old UAL stule or BA business class seats.
It is a 6 .5 hour flight... flights of this length cant be flown in comfort in coach.
Service will be good business class service nothing outstanding but the better seat You do get a personal vidio player
I upgrade to HA first class almost every time I fly to the west coast w/either miles or same day upgrade. Usually $200 one way if paying.
I%26#39;d highly recommend it. Especially since your on vacation--what the heck!!!

PS Is the $400 roundtrip or one way?
MrsFuzz...
Unfortunately they have now upped the typical same day upgrade (if available) for Pualani Gold members to $250 in the past few months. I was even quoted $300 on a busy flight day.
I gladly use the half-dozen upgrades they send every year and miles on occasion; its just that when it gets to be $250+, for some reason I have to draw the limit.
Hopefully, my perspective of value will inflate along with the upgrade prices in short order.
It%26#39;s $400 per leg is that rubbbish?
amberloo,
Last time I paid was in Feb and it was $200---but, they told me it was because I checked in online. At the airport, it was $250. I was low on miles so opted to pay the $200. My RT tix to CA was so cheap I didn%26#39;t mind.
But, I agree--and I won%26#39;t pay more than the $200 and only if I had a really good fare to start with. Otherwise, flying in coach on Hawaiian isn%26#39;t really all that bad either! Unfortunately, not all routes have digi-players. They%26#39;re a handy little gadget and w/them, I don%26#39;t have to carry my own dvd player.

mrsfuzz
Thanks all
