Just back from 7 days on Waikiki

Had a wonderful time and great weather. Water was beautiful and warm. Had great fun in the waves. We ate at Dukes twice and Cheesecake Factory. Both were delicious. Spent the day going up to North Shore and snorkled at Sharks Cove. Had shaved ice at Matsumoto---but guess what??? We saw an old lady worker digging the shaved ice holders out of the overflowing garbage cans to wash and resell!!!!Yuck!!!We searched for turtles at Kulima Cove and Lanikea Beach--but none to be seen---nor any Whales spotted from shore. We did the sunset catamaran and outrigger canoe ride. Both were great fun and are not to be missed. Hiking Diamond Head was impressive. And also the Pali outlook. Road to Roundtop drive was closed.

Snorkling was very good at Haunama Bay---better than Sharks Cove for us. Be sure to go see the Halona blowhole and hidden beach to see how powerful the ocean is. Had the best Mai Tai%26#39;s at Royal Hawaiian were we stayed. Really loved it there. Best beach and location. Would go back. I don%26#39;t think we would have enjoyed ourselves as much if we weren%26#39;t staying on the beach. We used the DrivingandDiscovering Oahu book alot. Hardly used the ';Revealed'; one. We thought 7 days was just right. (We are two couples age 55 ).

Thanks for the review.

I think we will keep clear of thar shaved ice place!

Not to say reusing the plastic containers is ok....but, if you are worried about getting a used one, don%26#39;t buy the plastic holder. You can get shave ice in the usual paper cone holder. Or, go to the place next door. Matsumotos gets all the press in tourist books but it isn%26#39;t the only place out there. Personally, I would never stand in those insane lines for shave ice.
