you can see my pics I%26#39;ve been taking at:http://s59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/dolphin01/
beaches on the north shore today were very pretty. Water still rough. I should have taken a pic of the actual Queens bath -- I thought the first pool we got to (as in the pic) was the actual queens bath.
There are three pools. The last one was ok to snorkel in but the ocean was quite rough so every once in a while the waves would pound into the bath area. There were two brave people who went snorkeling. It was kind of a rainy day off and on all throughout the north shore.
Hideaways was just beautiful. The trail down to it was quite a feat. Since it was all muddy, it was quite slick. There are ropes to hang onto to get you up the hill. My husband kept telling me to NOT rely on them. I can just see one of them snapping and me going flying backwards.
If it had been a warmer, sunnier day I would have snorkeled at one of the spots.
We stopped at Bubbas and got a burger. Pretty good burger.
It%26#39;s been windy here for the past three days. I suppose that%26#39;s the cause of the rough waters?
Surfers don%26#39;t care. I%26#39;m looking out the sliding door right now and they are out there.
I would like to do one of the hikes but the trails are kind of slick and muddy right now.
Don%26#39;t know what we are doing tomorrow --
Kukui
Kukui on Kauai
Mahalo kukui! Looks like Lydgate is still stacked high with debris. Note folks are not heeding the warning to stay out of the water. Love the shot of the nene at the taro fields. Know you are enjoying your days in paradise.

Sounds like you%26#39;re having fun!
Good idea to stay away from Queens Bath if the ocean is rough. I%26#39;m sure you saw the sign that says how many people have died there? If a rogue wave comes up and slams into the bath, it%26#39;s all over.....
Try Hanalei Mixed Plate across from Bubba%26#39;s in Hanalei. Great food, cheap.
For a great burger, try Duane%26#39;s Ono Burger by the Anahola PO.
Maybe we%26#39;ll try that tomorrow. We will be in that area. We%26#39;re going to try and do some snorkeling at hideaways and maybe do a short hike by Ke%26#39;e. We%26#39;ll see....
Today we went to Waimea Canyon. Beautiful views.
West side beaches -- UGH. Brown ring water. Didn%26#39;t see anyone at the beaches there.
We went to Poipu and had lunch at Poipu Tropical Burgers. I had a good Mahi Mahi grilled burger and hubby had fish and chips. He thought his was VERY good.
Then we just hung out at Poipu beach and people watched and got some rays.
Water was a bit rough. The place where everyone was snorkeling a few days ago as corded off since the current was real bad.
Water wasn%26#39;t very clear either. Kind of on the mucky side.
We are back at our condo at the WBV and water is choppy (as usual) but very clear and blue. Surfers are out.
Thanks for the updates!
I%26#39;m still posting pics so be sure to keep looking.
Today was a sunny day with a few clouds. Windy which kept things cool.
We went snorkeling at Hideaways early this morning. We were the only ones for a while. I will post the pic.
Great snorkeling. Very clear and the water was warmer than the air when we got out - :)
Didn%26#39;t do much else today. We stopped at Lydgate and the water is getting clearer. Not the pools but the ocean is.
What is Lau Lau? And has anyone eaten at the Koala Fish Market place? We stopped in a couple days ago but it seemed kind of scary so we opted to not eat there.
more later....
Just wanted to say thanks for the updates and the photos. Makes me want to return, and soon!!
Have a great rest-of-your trip!
Kukuinut,
Lau Lau is a steamed Hawaiian entree. It is usually made with either a pork, chicken, or vegetable filling - or a combination.
You wrap the filling inside of taro leaves, then bundle everything up inside ti leaves. Tie the bundles up and steam %26#39;em for a few hours.
The ti leaves are discarded and the taro wrapped filling is eaten. The taro becomes like spinach and the meat inside is ohhh, so tender and tasty!! Try it!!
I just wanted to say hello to a fellow Salt Laker and thanks for all the updates. My husband and I will be going to Kauai for the first time in December and really appreciate all the first-hand advice on this site. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
Oh, and you might be interested to know, Kukui, that as I sit here typing we have nearly an inch of fresh snow on the lower east bench and it%26#39;s coming down hard. Enjoy your island weather, darn you. :-)
