A local lady we talked to at Lulu%26#39;s in Kehei last year told me about this book. I found if for like 3 bucks on Amazon and read it in a day. It%26#39;s a story of a woman who was born in Upcountry Maui and returns after 26 years. The story is wonderful and it%26#39;s like hanging out with someone who lives there.
Get it - you%26#39;ll love it!!!
Must read for Maui freaks - Silversword by Phyllis WhitneyThis is a fiction novel, but a great read and so much that described Maui so vividly.

Must read for Maui freaks - Silversword by Phyllis WhitneyWould a guy like it? Looking for something to read on the flight out there, but I certainly don%26#39;t want to be reading some romance novel ;)

It does involve some romance, but hardly a Harlequin novel. Lots of intrigue, and very descriptive of Maui. The author (who%26#39;s 102 and still kickin!) spent a considerable amount of time there to do her research (what a task!). I think a guy would like it.
Cool! I will get it. I wanted to read a book on our trip but didn%26#39;t want my usual stuff, which is all nonfiction. Can I get this at Barnes and Noble or Borders?
I don%26#39;t know if you could get it at a bookstore. I got mine on Amazon, but I know you%26#39;re leaving in a couple days. It%26#39;s worth a shot - you may even find it at a used book store. Copyright is %26#39;87.
Mrs. S. says thatr Phyllis Whitney is a fairly popular light suspense writer. Mrs. S. is the reader in the family.
