Royal Grove hotel or Queen Kapiolani hotel or Ocean resort...
I can only give you a review of the Royal Grove as I haven%26#39;t stayed in any of the others. I%26#39;m taking it for granted that you have decided that you want to stay on that end of Waikiki since all four are in the same area. The Royal Grove is a small two wing family owned hotel two blocks also small to the beach. The rooms in the older wing do not have a/c but are around $42 anite not sure if they have a kitchen. The newer wing rooms are good size with a double bed plus a single also full size fridge four burner stove and oven and a/c run $62 anite. As with most placesif you%26#39;re staying more than 7 days you can get a discount. The others you mentioned only the Banyan offers a kitchen the other two you may get a compact fridge and m/w. Prices I got w/o dates at the Queen $72 for std to $116 for o/v. The Ocean was$75 to 121. The Banyan ranged from $120 on up. All four have had very good reviews, if it helps we took some of what we saved by staying at the Grove and did a couple things we wouldn%26#39;t have otherwise. Also we were able to bring a few more gifts home. Visit the hotel websites it may make your decision easier.
Royal Grove hotel or Queen Kapiolani hotel or Ocean resort...
Thanks for the information! It is a great help to hear other peoples opinion.
Something else at the Grove is the beach toys you can borrow at no cost boogie boards air mattresses etc. Good luck and enjoy
I%26#39;ve stayed at Royal Grove twice and Ocean Resort twice. I prefer the Royal Grove because of its overall lower cost and friendlier ambience. I especially like the full kitchens in the Royal Grove rooms because we don%26#39;t want to eat out for every meal.
I tend to prefer the Ocean Resort location near Kapiolani Park because I spend a lot of time at the park. However, the Royal Grove is more centrally located with easier access to all of Waikiki. Royal Grove doesnt have its own parking garage, so you either have to use the expensive lot across the street, or walk 5 minutes to the inexpensive garage at the Waikiki Banyan. I also used the Banyan garage when staying at the Ocean Resort, since it%26#39;s just across the street and costs less than the Ocean Resort garage.
Thanks for the information!!!You%26#39;re a great help!
Well I can tell you about the Banyon only. There are alot of familys that stay there. It has the full kitchen so you can save on some meals. Its not 5 stars by any means but its safe, comfortable and easy access to the beach and shopping. They have a parking garage for a fee, but sont stay out to late because as you heard from the post above people park here also from othre hotels.
It has a nice pool and even a playground for the kids. Hope this helps with any decision.
Thanks for all the information!! I am just a little disturbed by all the news on the sewage spill.........I am kindof leary about going on the beach even in June...what do others think?
We are going in August and I am thinking the same thing. I will probably snorkel at North Shore their beaches were fine. I do suggest like others that I have heard from to wear shoes on the sand.
With so much tourist visiting there in the summers I bet they are doing everything they can to try to fix the problems.
Four of us stayed at the Waikiki Banyan in late March. We exchanged through a timeshare but the units are probably all similar. We liked it very much. It had a nice pool, two hot tubs, playground area, basketball/tennis courts and even grills for barbeques. Like someone else mentioned, not a five star, but it was spacious. The full kitchen is nice, even if you don%26#39;t cook(we didn%26#39;t). It was very conveniently located, just a short walk to the beach and shops. The concierge was very helpful. We didn%26#39;t really deal with the rest of the staff at all. We were able to park for free since we were there on an exchange but didn%26#39;t have any trouble parking. We were on the 27th floor and had an ocean view, although the Marriot was across the street and somewhat blocked our view but it was still nice.
I%26#39;ve stayed in Waikiki Sunset which is near Waikiki Banyon and is somewhat similar. Nice inexpensive condo. Both are Resortquest. Both about 1 1/2 blocks from the beach.
